Cartoon RC Car Body | How I Painted My RC Body To Look Like A Cartoon

Ойын-сауық

In this video I paint an RC car body in the cartoon style which is quite popular now. It is quite a long video but I didn't want to skimp on the information which maybe be valuable to some people looking to paint their RC carb body in the same style.
Please excuse the sound in some parts of the video, I was having microphone issues. Hope the video is helpful!
Thanks for watching.

Sensational art work Mick👌, I'd have absolutely no idea where to start with doing one and can appreciate how much imagination and skill it takes to produce what you've done, thanks for sharing your how to video mate👍, atleast we have a great starting point. We had a bit of a laugh when you clicked that you have a chassis for it lol. Thanks again for sharing this mate and congrats on a fantastic job, I bet we're going to see more people having a crack at one now😁👍🙋‍♀️🦘🇦🇺

Thanks mate! Thanks for the kind words as always. Haha yeah, I remembered I have a new MST chassis somewhere which after thinking later, I think is a drift chassis. So no good for this one, I'll grab a touring car chassis for it at some stage. Glad you enjoyed the video mate. Haha, yeah I can see loads more of these popping up in the next month or so! 😂👍

Pleasure Mick, Thanks mate👍. Spewing about the MST chassis being a drifter!. BTW the white reflections you painted on worked really well hu, at one stage we could see the same reflection from your lights👌.

@@outbackrcaustralia4895 Haha, well I think it's a drifter. I remember its has adjustable wheel base and mid or rear motor mounts, but just can't remember where it is. I'm guessing it's in the same "safe place" as my two missing Ultima's 😂. Thanks mate, thought about the reflections along the way, trying to get it accurate in case I go matt finish, where it won't have real reflections🙂👍

Awesome job, Mick! What an amazing cartoon car you created there. Funnily enough, I just used a POSCA pen to add channel names to the body of a community RC build. Thanks Mark! The POSCA pens are great. I've been using them for the odd touch up here and there for while now. They're quite reliable too compared to other paint pens. I'll have to look out for your community build, I don't get to watch as many channels as I'd like these days so I miss a lot. I posted pics of this body finished on a Facebook group (rc airbrush obsession) yesterday, great bunch of people there! This is where I got the cartoon idea, before that I'd only seen one real car done like this. Anyway it's since gone nuts, people are sharing it everywhere. I had 200+ comments to answer this morning, so I was at it all day. Of course because I was replying over and over, Facebook decided I must be spamming, so they've restricted my account for 24 hours. Which means I can't comment anywhere on Facebook... Just can't win mate! 🤣 Anyway, I'm glad it may have given you some ideas. I'll keep an eye out for your videos! 🙂👍

Great job fella .if you use poly paint for your main paint job you can use acrylic paint over the top without any problems of it cracking and falling off ..I’ve been priming all my crawler body’s for years with poly paint as a sort of etch usually a silver base .then used acrylic or celly paint for the colour I want the rig .I paint all my body’s on the outside because I don’t like the fake plastic shine when painted inside because a real car doesn’t shine like that …then I weather or rust it if i want a rough dog of a rig .when the paint scratches off on rocks etc the silver shows through from underneath the colour like a real steel body .👍🇬🇧🇦🇺♥️

Been thinking about doing this sort of paint job on my rc4wd tf2 xtra cab.. only downside is it’s a matt black truck and a hardbody. I’d have to use white and silver to make the cartoony highlights on body lines. Haven’t really seen it done especially on a matt black truck. Hmm..

At first I thought, nyah, it can't grow like that, lines are not perfect, in the half of the video I thought: well, it is easy, he is not a good paintbrusher, then at the very end when only the yellow was missing, I thought, well the nuances in the orange, they're funky lovely, then came the yellow and I thought: mmmh perhaps he's a good airbrusher, and then came the windows, and then I thought: well he's doing them blue, WTF ? And then I saw the "graduado", and the strong or light blue was not just up or down, it was how the real shadows fall. So the whole car is sensational and you are a genius ! that looks quite cool, might "attempt" that on my next body ;o]] will probably look terrible compared to yours but why not try something new, probably the best design concept to attempt if you lack skill or precision ;o] might break it up a bit and add some complexity at least, I usually do my bodies very simple with 2-3 colors (spray paints) so adding some small details with an acrylic pen (which I already have few around) might add some interesting details without lot of intricate liquid mask cutting and adding multiple color layers

Awesome paintwork man! Wanna ask some question about pressure and needle size you using when painting acrylic paint. It look`s like there was no paint coming out. i`m just started airbrushing. i moustly use Vallejo air paint. 0,15 when detailing an 0,4 needle when painting overall paint. and pressure i`m using is somewhere 1,5-1,8par.

Thanks mate! I'm used a .3 needle. When I was painting the orange around the edges and the blue in the windows, I only used around 20PSI. Same with the yellow. For the white backing I run it at around 40PSI. The Proline paint I find still needs thinning as it's quite thick. I usually use a few drops of reducer but I still ran is quite think on this occasion. I actually wanted a lot more air coming out than paint so it fades better. 🙂👍
