Tunisia's musical heritage is rich in diverse genres. Among this variety, we find mezoued, a term that refers to both a single-reed aerophone similar to a bagpipe and a popular urban musical genre. The repertoire of this musical genre includes a vast corpus of popular songs addressing various themes such as love, poverty, and imprisonment. Additionally, it features an important sacred-profane repertoire of nûbas, songs that pay homage to and praise the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, but more importantly, venerate the country's main saints. The show "Rboukh" by Hatem Lajmi is a musical performance that celebrates this repertoire of Sufi nûbas of the mezoued genre.
Lajmi, through his talent and respect for tradition, offers a vibrant and respectful interpretation of this musical heritage. His show allows for the rediscovery and appreciation of the depth and diversity of mezoued while honouring the spiritual figures and themes that have shaped this music over the centuries.
