Fun fact: In the credits, we can see Mater's date of birth in his passport, which is January 12 1957. The credits also show that Mater was knighted on July 15 2011. This means that Mater was canonically 54 years old by the events of Cars 2.

Which just seems to raise the fact they may work off of car age instead of human age, since that's not too far a stretch given the style and make of Mater. Probably sometime the car bible has been (like our human bible) altered to each car culture so it would be more accepting to them so the car Christianity spread more easily. How would one even crucify a car? Would you tie the car to the crucifix? Would you nail the wheels to the crucifix? Is it even possible??

You guys got so distracted by the popemobile that you forgot that Francesco acknowledged that he has a mom, which means cars give birth. Also mater drank a martini at the beginning of the film.

I love how they wrote the scene to be a joke about how confusing Japanese toilets are, but everyone's just confused about how the hell a CAR toilet works. What's worse is Planes flat out showed us what Car excrement looks like, which is black sludge. The more layers you peel back in the Cars universe, the worse it gets.

One of my favorite little details is when Mater visits Paris. You can see a Car Gusteau's (called Gastow's) in one shot in the background. Which implies that a car version of the events in Ratatouille takes place in the Carsverse.

I don't think I've witnessed anyone have this bad of a full on mental breakdown over a kids' movie. Like the amount of times they both sounded like they were genuinely on the verge of tears just screaming and laughing hysterically was uncountable, but honestly I don't blame either of you I'm right there with you. Call me crazy, but I loved the Cars 2 opening when I was a kid and I still love it today. It pretty much is a 1960s Bond movie fight, but with cars. Also, a car is a 1 to 3-ton mechanism that endures up to 10,000 explosions a minute inside its internals (and is usually physically unable to do less than 800-ish), pumps an obscene amount of oil and water to survive doing that, and may have enough kinetic energy at top speed to go clean through walls. They are literally heavy metal. Violence suits them *very* well.

I like that this movie's main conflict depends on classicism, and the oppressed victims are the main villains. It's hilarious. PS: I'm disappointed you didn't commentate on the scene where axelrod mentions dinosaurs, and mater asks what happened to them, meaning dinosaurs existed in this universe. PSS: They used “You might think” during the travel montage earlier in the movie. I'd like to point out that this song about a stalker and a girl with depression, and they put it in a movie for kids. The catch is: I'm sure they only chose this song because the band who made it is called “The Cars”.

Actually it's more like one capitalist used his disability to mobilize lackies under the guise of societal revenge when all he really wants to do is eliminate the possibility of competition to his business. Not dissimilar to how Scar got the Hyenas on his side by promising them the rights they always deserved, only to mismanage too poorly for them to enjoy said rights and throw them under the bus at the first sign of trouble. Though Scar was not a Hyena himself, making Axelrod kinda worse in some ways.

Yeah it rubs me the wrong way that there's only one described "lemon" in this film that isn't associated with Axelrod's organization, and they only appear for a few minutes. I don't think the writers meant anything by it, but that aspect of the worldbuilding was certainly handled very poorly.

So, last movie, the guys asked if gas was free, since it’s the lifeblood of cars. That got me thinking: Human food costs money, so it would make sense that gas is also paid. However, that then got me thinking if there are different types of gas, like food. Like, are there differences between Italian and Chinese gas? Can you consume a lot of Chinese gas, but feel hungry shortly after, like real-life Chinese food? Look what y’all have done to me!

The fact that there's a car pope just blows my mind🤣

I think that how families work in Cars is like that one Blue Sky studios movie Robots where there are robots who are married, but to have kids they just get the baby robots parts delivered. And the way they age is they just add more parts to them to “grow up”

I had to watch this in summer camp, I was around 12 at the time and the rest of the kids were like 7 or younger. Every single one of the kids were cheering and I was holding in my laughter when the cars were being crushed and exploded. Until later when it’s revealed Mater is the bomb I choked on the Sunny D.

This was secretly a scrapped James Bond film

I didn't expect anything to be more surreal than The Cat in the Hat, but somehow this outdoes that in terms of sheer inanity

Am I the only one that ironically loves this movie??

I absolutely love Cars 2 it changed my life and has become one of my favorite animated films of all time

I remember seeing this in a theatre and not putting together how messed up it is that a ton of people got murdered on screen in this because I watched a lot of Star Wars. Now, seeing this as an adult, I'm SCREAMING because I totally forgot about that elevator double-kill and that's like some "Con Air" shit.

This film actually deserves a PG rating. Yet this is G rated and freaking INSIDE OUT and FROZEN are PG.

Watching the vein in Robby's neck get closer and closer to exploding the more he tries to understand the cars universe is probably my favorite thing. You guys are hilarious and so underrated. Subscribing in the hopes that Robby's neck will not pull a Mt Vesuvius during future filming/editing lol

This was actually my favorite cars movie as a kid. It was Maters story, and mater was my favorite character, so I loved it. Also the free pistachio ice cream scene was the peak of cinema and nobody can convince me otherwise
