Thank you Scott for all the great advice. Been watching your feed recently and it’s truly impressive and so useful in the field ! I have used Feisol for 6 years now and it is awesome. I did buy an RRS which is more sturdy and has more height but it also adds weight and not helpful for longer hikes at all, for me at least.

For my human-sized lenses and camera, I hike with them on my backback strap using Peak Design's clip and their Lens Kit for snapping in two other lenses so I can swap them quickly. They have hip holster like the spider one too but I've not used it. Probably a lot longer hike that you are meaning when talking about carrying your 600 lens that way.

Perfect timing as I’m in the market for a gimbal, haven’t decided on either a cradle or side mount style.

You can use a swing arm gimbal and still use it for landscape and most macro by buying a arca Swiss plate with a 90 degree rotated arca clamp. This changes the arca Swiss orientation from its normal lengthwise direction to side to side like you would need in a landscape camera setup. Done this for years and the plate is cheap.

Thanks for another great and very useful video. I tried to get the Tomahawk on Amazon but it’s unavailable. Can you recommend an alternative similar brand? I live in Spain so don’t have B& H. Thanks

Was the other holster company Cotton Carrier? If so, why did you not prefer it?

Yes and I can't say I used it. So I am not knocking the product, I just like the Spider system so much I told CC that I was not interested in any promotional material at that time because I was more than pleased with Spider. I am not an ambassador for either product, but Spider was nice enough to send me a few samples over the years.

What’s the ball head you have for the Tomahawk?

  • @WildlifeInspired

likely the robus which i really like. $399 dollars but I found that at around 200-250 you can get a decent ball head.
