it's from the original musical broadway/stratford of 1988 they did that but the 2012 removed it

This is MUCH better than the Off Broadway revival. I only wish the actress playing Carrie had that big, strong belt she should have.

I have an unpopular opinion about this. This staging/choreography was absolutely amazing and I don't dislike anything about it at all. It was just incredible. However, I saw a college production of this in Northern New Jersey where in my opinion, the deaths of the extra students were a lot cooler, like Carrie drowning a guy in the punch bowl and crushing people against the gym lockers but the more notable characters that died had better deaths in this one, specifically Tommy, Billy, and obviously Chris. I am absolutely obsessed with this entire scene and I think both shows were by far my favorite versions.

I LOVE HOW THEY KEPT SOME OF THE LINES FROM THE OG ITS AMAZING AND THOSE LINES DONT GET MUCH ATTENTION

Honestly wasn't feeling that at all until she actually starting killing the students.The acting was top notch. Billy and especially Chris's deaths were superb, didn't see Chris's death coming at all! The lighting took that number to another level. In truth, though, wasn't 100% into Carries vocals but I wasn't there so shouldn't really comment as a video can't do a lot of things justice.

eh, the opening night one is alright. her technicality is a lot better, definitely, but in both of them she is rushing the hell out of her lines if you want chills, look up Keaton Whittaker’s The Destruction. The deaths are more sloppy in it, but her voice is just so perfectly Carrie

okay so hands down? the best destruction scene i've ever seen. this is probably the most difficult scene to do in the entire musical and whenever i see other productions do this scene, it just doesn't really feel like carrie is raising hell at the prom, but this one DEFINITELY did. carrie's vocals i agree could've been better but other than that, i loved this scene.

I saw this at the Los Angeles Theater in 2015. I was in the front row of the movable bleachers. I've been searching for a clip of the destruction from this production. It was the best out of all the productions. This was a labor of love for the the production team. This video doesn't do it justice although it nice to have it for others to view. Being at a live performance is a different experience. I would be great to have this production mounted again.

The demise of Billy and Chris - so…freaking…satisfying

Literally the best destruction I’ve ever seen!! Every production of Carrie could never do the destruction scene right and this one hit right out of the park it’s crazy in its perfection!

Chris’s death was unexpected...props to the special effects and wire rigging crew! I could only imagine experiencing this live!

S H Y E E 1 2 I understand, but isn’t the point supposed to be that she snaps because the blood landing on her was the last straw of what she could take with the bullying? I guess it could be argued that she snapped because she realized it was intended for her (even though it missed) but I feel like it makes it stronger if it does land on her. The mic does make it more complicated, though.

Erin R No you are meant to think it landed on her by making actual blood land but not actually hit her because of the microphone, so you have to pretend it didn’t miss

Im obsessed with this musical and was so disappointed by the revival. . This destruction gave me goosebumps!

That destruction scene was awesome! Everyone was getting burned 🔥, electrocuted ⚡️, Billy got hanged, and Chris got swept away. The special effects were perfect for this Musical.

Emily, you're voice is amazing in this version of the Carrie killer musical, and I love your voice on "God has seen your sinning, just beginning" its amazing!

With a doubt the best Destruction I have seen in total. It might even just edge out the Off-West End version given that the director had permission to add the And Eve Was Weak reprise into the piece and use the original orchestration for the rest of the scene. Truly amazing from start to finish. As camp and fun and scary as it needed to be!

i wish we could see more of this production , everyone was so talented, But i want more of the destruction :D

I love the way this was staged. The lighting and the choreography was incredible.

I'm really not crazy at all about the delivery of Carrie's spoken lines here... what is she even trying to do with those wonky choices of inflection? I cringed at that, but I enjoy her voice. However, I think she could be a little more belty and less "legit" (operatic) than she is here.

THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!! most carries plays destruction scene are so little. i mean the whole play builds up to this scene and the destruction scene and is disappointed THIS though lived up to the carrie story!

This version I feel like emphasis the scariness of the song unlike many others do.

Holy shit! That was epic!

This is BY FAR the best version of The Destruction. The deaths were well done, they felt real, it truly felt like Carrie was wreaking havoc and the entire gym was falling apart, the inclusion of the “God has seen your sinning just beginning” refrain is chilling, the singing conveyed all the emotion and sounded amazing, and you avoided the common pitfall of synchronized choreography! MASTERFUL!

I think the blood being off-centered was a genuine mistake and not rigged because I’ve seen images of her from the performance where she was drenched in blood, and it wasn’t promotional.

I wish this production would come back in LA! Such an amazing such show!!

Carrie's delivery made me cringe but this was good

the tech in this literally brought me to tears oh my god

The special effects and student deaths were kinda cool, but the vocals have NOTHING on the 1988 and 2012 versions?? Why are people saying that it's 'sooo much better' when she doesn't even sing some of her lines well... not trying to hate on the actress, just on the people who think she did a better job

In my case, at least, I like that this version had the 2012 lyrics but added the “He will burn you” part from the 1988 version. Also it might just be me, but I can heard more emotion in this girl’s voice than in the others. Besides, this song isn’t really meant to sound beautiful.

Honestly I came here only to see the choreo and special effects to see if it was good and honestly it was pretty freakin’ cool!

This is the best Destruction scene I’ve seen so far, but yet in almost everyone I’ve seen the bucket completely misses Carrie and they only end up with some drops or only the bottom of their dress drenched.

Love the scene & when Carrie is prom queen

This would be my ideal production i just wish Carries voice wouldve been a bit stronger, loved thst they added the god has seen your sinning part, really amazing!

I noticed that, too. But it looks like the actress was able to play with the trauma of seeing the blood intended for her, thus still having people laughing at her for her period incident. It's also possible that some of it could have splashed onto the dress, but the video quality wasn't clear enough for me to see.

This is so fucking cool

I don't like how Carrie kills Tommy in the musical in any production. In the movie and book, Billy does it by accidentally dropping the blood bucket on his head. That was kind of the straw (or should I say bucket) that broke the camel's back. I understand productions would have trouble landing the bucket right, but Tommy becomes one of the few who is genuinley nice to Carrie, so she wouldn't kill him.

Actually, in the book Carrie is convinced that the deceased Tommy took part in that prom fiasco. So it makes sense that she kills him, I only saw her being truly upset about Tommy dying in the 2013 film.
