Hi Steve. Carrera offered you an alternative version to use the Magnets. 🙂 That`s what some folks do, to play with the different strenghts of the Magnet(s). It must have been assemled on a Monday morning maybe. We call cars, that are having failures when delivered in Germany, Monday cars. But you managed to find out the fault and it was easy to fix therefore. In terms of the tires, Carrera stated last year, they will use better tires in the future. I got two newer cars and the tires are very hard in its consistancy, compared to former tires, which are like you metioned softer. Remove one of the rear-tires of it and see, if it has the new rims, that have a smaller diameter on the inside of the rims, compared to the outer ring. Carrera does produce these rims the last two to three years which are in my opinion a case for the garbage can. It is difficult to mount aftermarket tires on them, because the different diameters do not fit well on the inner ring. Means it won`t be flat on the surface of the track therefore. Same in the front. In the front though, you want this little contact on the outside of the tire. In the back you don`t. There will always be a gap of the inner ring and the tire then, if you mount aftermarket tires. The tire won`t enclose fully, leaving the gap on the inside. One has to grind off a lot of flesh from the rear-tires, to get it flat on the track surface. On the newer Corvette C7.R they still mounted the better, elder rims, but most other new cars have those crappy new ones. The only thing you could do, to get rid of that problem, is to get an aftermarket tunning-kit, like from Slotinvasion, for the rear axxle. In the front it is not necessarily important to do it, if it has the those terrible rims, like I mentioned before. I checked the Carrera web-site for the replacements axxles and they listed the axxle-kit with the Item-No. 20091039, which is the replacement-kit for the silver Porsche 911 No. 88 Proton Competition you got, as well. It would be interresting, if the axxles on that Gulf Porsche are the old ones, or the new ones. Do me a favour and answer that in the reply comment of this comment please, after you removed one rear tire. If you got the newer KTM GTX/GT2 versions, without the wing-mirrors, you can use that Porsche axxle-kit 20091039 for the KTM as replacements for those new rims. The car runs way better with them and the Porsche tires do lower the chassi a little bit. The tires by Carrera are the Item No. 20089800, which aslo fit on different GT3 cars, like th Ford GT for instance. That being done, that KTM will run! The elder KTM`s, means the first two with wing-mirrors, cannot really snap on these, unless you cut off one of the distance rings from the axxles, or use the replacement -kit No. 20091131 for the blue Porsche 911 No. 93, which is the replacement with the silver rims. That fits perfect. I did just that, because of the rim issues. Both KTM are running much, much better that way. Bye there for now and keep the contest up with your sister. Hello from here to her and to you, too! 🙂

Thanks for the input. I don't know why these 1/32 slot companies make all funky wheels, at least on our policar track all the stock rubber tires seem to grip really good to it much better than on the smoother scalextric and carrera tracks that I once had also, the policar track works great with rubber and urethane tires but silicone is not good on it. Happy slotting!

@@BSslotcars Hi Steve, you are welcome. When I choosed the Carrera track system more than two years ago, I wasn`t aware about all the other track-systems, simply, because Carrera is the housholder in that case here in Germany. Today, I would definetly choose Policar, or the new Scaleauto track-system. Scalextric is not my brand to go to. I mainly stick to rubber tires and foam-rubber tires. I only have about six cars by Carrera, who have to run with PU`s, simply because Carrera does not produce the replacememnts for them any more! Carrera stops that after about ten years in mainly all categories of replacement parts. I mainly run analog, but I do run digital every once in a while. But many don`t know, that Silicons are poison for the Carrera Digital -System! The fine dust by Silicon-Tires do harm the railchanging parts and aslo leave a dirt-film on the track, which interrupts the current flow. Therefore one should not use Silicon tires at all. PU's do leave PU-Dust as well, but it won`t harm the railchanging parts, like Sillies do. These two tire materials require a good cleaning treatment. Rubber is my choice to go for. Foam rubber is also very good, because the material hardens out after a while, but you simply smear body-lotion, or sun-lotion on the tires and they become smooth again. Next to the fact, that you can run Foams way, way longer than all other tire-materials. You can get those already glued onto rims, so you buy the whole unit of rim and tire, or you glue them on your rims yourself. There are different foams, that are good for wood-tracks, plastic-tracks, or a mix of both track-surfaces, or real soft ones, by Scaleaouto for instant. They are coded with a color stripe on the tires, just like in real racing series. Have a good one and always a pleasure to help out, or to pass over informations. That is, what we are here for on this earth: To help each other out! Keep your keel in the ditch, Brother and again, many greets over to your sister! 🙂

@@bomamo9620 Hi thanks, I use wd40 on rubber tires rub in a thin coat until tires are dry looking and the tires will gab much better but with politrack it's really not needed like with carrera because politracks surface is like a tiny triangles pointed up and it sinks into the soft rubber tires and makes them grab real good. I don't know about foam tires on policar track they probably will grip really good also but may get worn out real quick from it's rough surface. Thank again 👍👍

@@BSslotcars WD40 is an allrounder. It is made from fish-oil, in case you did not know that. Do you know Ballistol oil, which is for weappon maintenance? It is used to clean them and it has so many other applications, you can even use it for cooking, because it is regarded also as a nutrition here in Germany! But don`t ask me how it tastes? lol I use it for my bushings, the motors and also on the braids. If you fall into the promises of those slaotcar aftermarket products, I only can smile to that. Ballistol is the only oil you really need, unless you are racing more intensevly. It is cheap and fully effective! For homeracing applications, this is the real deal to go for me. And it prooved it for years by now. If you drip a small drop of it onto your braids, it will clean the braids while running. You also apply a slight oil film onto the rails, which lets the current flow better and it prevents the rails from corrosion, you apply a slight film with it on the rails. For fully corrosion protection, smear it slight film on the whole track every now and then. Carrera rails are made from stainless steel, other track rails are not. This is a secret hint I can give you here. ;-) No doubt, foams can loose their consistence, if they are soft ones, but the other ones do withstand that easy. Check out Scaleautos Foams Steve. Give it a try and be surprised, Brother. ;-)

@@bomamo9620 Hi just a bit of info on me I been into slot cars all my life I had my own HO and 1/32 club I had every brand 1/32 track even routed my own but never had the new scale auto but it is like carrera but with a rougher surface so I am thinking it will be nice, I been racing at club level for many years on my 4 lane ho tracks and 1/32 tracks and I even raced in the HO nationals and at many other clubs ho and 1/32 tracks. I know most everything about slot cars and tracks and back when I had my 21x8ft 4 lane carrera track I found it was the best out of all tracks I tried when I made layouts. I know about the stainless rails it has and I love the policar because it has those same rails unlike ninco scx scalextric and artin and others that just get all rusty. I worked for super tires and probably did 75% of the 1/32 tires line by letting them know what ones to make and further doing track testing to pick the best height tires that performed the best on many brands of track. I use greases I made for myself and oils I used to have a website and sold slot car tires and custom painted 1/32 slot cars that looked like they came from the big companies I did them so nice. Also sold my custom greases and stuff, for track rails with carrera it wont rust I had 24 year old track never put any oil on it and it still looks new today but it is good to put a drop or so of oil on a cars braids and run it around the track and for this I use that Caig Deoxit the red formula or the gold and for your controller contact I use the deoxit fader lube the green one, best stuff I ever found to use for these applications. I could go on and on but all I can tell you is Just have FUN running your slot cars that's what it's all about! 😁👍

@@rickyfrench1262 Cool then if your running your tires you can sand them down a lot lower it will be easy compared to the stock rubber tires, I sanded my stock ones down a lot and now my Xbow runs so much better than in stock out of the box form. I ran some of the carrera cars with only the front magnets in and they are a hoot to drive they control very good and you can power slide them with ease and they still handle nicely like the best of both worlds like magnet and kind of like no magnets right in the middle and they run perfect with the one front magnet.
