Actually this season Tomori has been really out of form for AC Milan and hasn’t played well for England recently. He’s also a more aggressive player than other defenders so in a two at the back can’t play next to Stones (they’re both error prone) or Maguire (not aggressive or fast enough). He just doesn’t fit England unless they do play three at the back or have a sweeper, but they have neither.

So stupid isn’t it, clueless yet they are saying about not playing club football, yet walker not play of injury, trippier fair play I get that, TAA has looked not himself this season but yeah I get it he can produce class moments, but Ben white has been mint every game and sits with his club at the top of the league again whilst being one of the main guys, AND can play centre back 🤯

@@kb5509 white is only playing rb because of Saliba doesn’t mean he isn’t good playing there. Arsenal conceded the 3rd fewest goals last season. Eric dier has never been good, he has that maguire bozo genes so I don’t get why you think he is better than those 2.

@@a-walpatches6460 I agree with Carra here. Against Iran who you will expect to be more defensively, it will be better to have a left-footed LB in the team. A right-footed LB will tend to cut inside where there's already so many opposing defenders crowding the middle of the field.

Luke Shaw has found his form and we know when he is on form he can be so so good. I don't think any LB in England is better than Shaw at the moment

Can't lie, I'd take Trippier this season over any full back except a healthy Reece James. Incredibly underrated and well rounded player.

Stop looking at where milan are in the league and actually watch his performance. It is all hyped up and mainly thing about him is his recovery. But he does make errors
Trippier is phenomenal, feels like he got tarred with the brush of being one of Southgate's favourites and not being as glamorous as the likes of TAA and R James when they first emerged, but he is so reliable and the most rounded full back we have available. He has also done it abroad and under four different managers now. One of the first names on the teamsheet imo.

I agree with everything you said up until the last sentence, cos he’s only one of the first names on the team sheet because Walker and Reece James are injured and Trent is off form. If this World Cup was played back in the summer when the three I’ve just mentioned were all at the peak of their powers I think trippier barely gets in the squad (or doesn’t- he only made the euros squad because Trent was injured imo)

@@Football_Advanced in a back 4 they use walker for pace and defensive reasons. In a back 3 Walker is used to compensate for Maguire's lack of pace hence Trippier plays RWB

How Ben White and tomori didn’t even get a MENTION is absolute madness considering some of the other players mentioned

Trippier might be the t3 best right back in the world rn. He's so consistent gets stuck in plays with aggression and intelligence. Set piece precision, disgustingly potent crossed balls and leadership qualities. He embodies the newfound toon success model. Not even a Newcastle fan either. He's just that good (city fan)

I'd have loved him at city but he doesn't fit our transfer model. Plus we have walker, cancelo, stones, Lewis coming through who looks to be a mainstay for us as he gets more mins.

My team in a 4231; Pickford, Trippier, Stones, White, Shaw, Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Foden, Sterling, Kane. The 3 can interchange and that’s what people forget so keeps the defenders guessing and they all give different threats. Rice needs to be that pivot and Bellingham box to box. We have a squad that can win the competition but need to make smart decisions 🏴
Honestly outside shout for a England cb Lewis Dunk 🤷♂️ can’t ignore how well Brighton have been for the last two seasons and he’s been a tank

Trent has won everything at the age of 24. Tripper was playing for Spurs at 24 and had won absolutely nothing. The only winners medal he has is La Liga.

Rooney was unbelievable for a few years but it seems to be forgotten just how bad he was for England at times, especially in tournament football. Once he lost his pace and some of his aggressiveness he tried to become an all round player that did a bit of everything, and he wasn't what he once was. I always feel that he was generally much, much better for United than he was in an England shirt. Unfortunately, Wayne peaked really early and once he was approaching his late 20's he was already well and truly on the decline, though still a very good player. Just not the monster he was.

he was a natural talent ....hard to coach god given talent. Type of player like Best or Greaves who wouldnt train yet come Saturday they get a hat trick. Often they are flawed in other areas in Waynes case his temperament an attitude, diet, etc so dont reach full potential. Messi is only example I can think who did as he got it right on/off the pitch.

Tarkowski had a nightmare last weekend playing for everton, not sure dier is any better, very flat footed and always turns sideway on when trying to block a shot. England defence is a major worry, shaw, alexander-arnold, stones and maguire do not give you the greatest confidence.

The left back debate shouldn't even be brought up. These players should be in their natural positions. Shaw every game. A comment on Jamie, he makes such great points about everything whether it be players or managers. He's great to listen to, someone who's grown on me 👍

Henderson has won everything. The point to be disgusted over is how is Kalvin Phillips going? Hasnt kicked a ball all season for the most part. IMO Ward-Prowse shouldve been on the plane in his spot. If not him, then Harvey Elliot. Maguire and Phillips taking the places of two more deserving and in-form players IMO. Namely; Ward-Prowse and either Tomori or Tarkowski.

Genuinely surprised and shocked that there was no mention of Ben White or Tomori when discussing potential cb pairings.
Not Carragher downplaying Trippiers individual talents based off group achievements. Could someone tell him Newcastle are above Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, AND his beloved Everton. Trippier is a huge reason why, and assisted our only goal in the euros final. Short memory clearly

You have probably done it with Stevie Gerrard for your whole life and probably laugh that hes never won the league. If not, look how many idiots do level that at Stevie Gerrard. When in reality, he was the best midfielder England has ever produced. Its a fucking stupid argument. Teams win trophies. I disagree with Carra. But think Kyle Walker is still ahead of Trippier at RB. But Trippier has to be LB for me. At least in the absence of Chilwell due to injury. I would have Trent on the right of a midfield three. He is world class. No England player possesses his quality from crosses or passes from his right foot. He is an assist machine. His vision and passing is that of a De Bruyne. Has to be in the team for me.

Since Tomori was left off the England side I wish Canada would approach him to play. We could definitely use his services.
Laura Woods is a class act. Love her, great at what she does. Can't disagree with the majority of the team but I'd be picking stones alongside Ben White. And tripper at right back. Midfield and forward positions I'm happy with, but against Iran, probably play maddison

I'd say pick the best ball playing midfielders in the big games too; give the opposition something to think about other than when they'll finally break through our defence and whether they'll win 1-0 or 2-0. But Southgate, Carragher and Shearer all disagree I think! If they think we're not gonna win anyway, why not just go for it though? Someone like Maddison in a big game, could (doesn't mean would) unlock something, and could give England the chance to be the proactive team, creating more chances in general. Having three DMs or something seems negative to me. Just my opinion though.

The ‘we did well to get to the final’ attitude is why we consistently lose! Southgate has overall done a good job as manager (relatively) BUT he’s also blown two massive opportunities. Ahead against Croatia and no game plan. Ahead against Italy with both their aged centre backs on yellow cards and he played it safe. Whenever we have hosted a big tournament we’ve always got to at least the semi finals!

Despite what Pickford has done in an England shirt and in prior tournaments... He has absolute howlers in his game and IMO is a liability.

Trippier should be nailed on starting rb by a mile and I’m a Liverpool fan. He’s the most well rounded choice. Great at set pieces, great defensively, experience and a leader. He’s a slightly worse offensively version of Trent but far more well rounded
Not picking Trippier is crazy. He, without a doubt have been the best RB this season, and arguably since he’s moved over to Newcastle. He transformed them from battling relegation to being above Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Spurs which is phenomenal. I honestly believe that even when James or Walker is fit, Trippier will give them a run for their money. TAA is 4th choice.

carragher is full of it.... cause someone played a game in champs lg he goes on like they are on another level. he always does this. does this whenever talking about best sides, cause utd and city can say about winning leagues
Ben White and Fikayo Tomori not even spoke about while Carragher claims Coady is the most in form centre back. These are meant to be the experts.
Trippier has been the best right back in the world so far this season. Not a chance Walker or Trent start ahead of him.

I do rate Kyle Walker massively and he would be the first name on my World XI for right back, especially now as Kimmich plays in midfield and Trent/Hakimi are a bit hit and miss recently. There are probably a few names I am forgetting, but seriously, Tripppier is in the form of his life right now.

It's strange how many pundits keep mentioning Trent as the weak link I'll be more concerned about the centre backs. If they play Dier or McGuire their done and if Walker does not play the have zero pace at the back. Tomori not being mentioned after such a good season says it all about selection policies.
Still could do 433 just have two players holding instead of one to make it more defensive the thing about 433 it can give u abit of rotation if used correctly cause it can be defensive depending on what u tell the players to do and can be attacking that formation is just depending on the instructions nd what the players get told to do
it's not just about picking who deserves to be there compared to others in their position, it's about who complements each other. If you have Kane up top you'd ideally have two runners in behind him from each wide area. Saka, Foden, Grealish etc none of them are that type. Saka and Foden are quick but they like the ball to feet. So it's imperative to have full backs who can overlap and provide width/threaten with runs out wide. So Trippier at left back would be stupid, he's fine there individually but doesn't complement who we have. I'm not a fan of Shaw or Rashford but both complement Kane's style, as does Sterling who I'm not a fan of either. Only way around this is if Kane wasn't the no.9, no chance that's happening. Unless you play Kane no.10 and put someone with pace at no.9

Why is tomori never mentioned in any centre back discussion for England lol. He’s so good on the ball and is crazy athletic. Also I hope shearer said trippier isn’t the best all rounder based of Reece not being expected to make it. Reece is by far the most all rounded rb for England.
