Carpet python enclosure from scratch - DIY

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This is a start to finish timelapse of me building a new enclosure for my jungle carpet python, Neo. The frame is built with 2x4s and a plywood sheet and it's placed on casters for ease of movement.
The substrate is top soil, play sand, orchid bark, cypress mulch and activated carbon. It is seeded with a clean up crew that lived in his previous enclosure. It is lit with two led shop lights, a UVB tube, a halogen bulb and a deep heat projector.

    @@lashvivs Ah yeah man, always, also on Reddit. I actually took a lot of inspiration from your videos, you really do cluttering and completely filling the space really well! Its something most don't do right IMO. People think snakes are like us, that they like tidy and open spaces, couldn't be farer from the truth

    Amazing build! I love that you even made the actual enclosure yourself, as that is what I want to do. Great inspiration, so thank you! How are the plants holding up? I know ball pythons and boas are little steamrollers, and I imagine that carpet pythons are similar, but those are some pretty robust plants.

  • @lashvivs

    @lashvivs

    Жыл бұрын

    the plants are doing really well. i used cork tube planters for the smaller ones so he doesn’t steam roll them too badly. he also really utilizes his branches which allow him to move around without climbing on the plants.

  • @lashvivs

    Жыл бұрын

    @@glock_9ine956 i’ve done the math, it’s definitely cheaper (especially a custom background instead of a purchased one), but it’s also a lot more labor intensive and time consuming. so just depends on what your situation is. i enjoy the building process more than purchasing one.

  • @lashvivs

    @lashvivs

    thanks! interestingly, i’ve seen him dig some tunnels before, but he doesn’t do it often. i’ve tried to give him enough terrestrial hides so that hopefully he doesn’t feel like he needs to dig his own. but if he chooses to then so be it i’ll adjust haha.
