​@@bigbellish343 a tape measure is a calibrated tool. Everything down to that little bit of movement on the tongue at the end of the tape, and for many models even the outer size of it's casing, is designed within decently small tolerances. Gluing a nut to an arbitrary area of the casing, at a less than perfect orientation, combined with a pencil does not make for a piece of precision engineering. Add in that hot glue softens, and stretches, meaning your nut and pencil won't necessarily be in the same orientation, or even position, when you take your tape out of your toolbox next time. Plus, that left/right movement to make a line will introduce inaccuracy due to rotation around wherever you are pivoting. Will you get a mark in kinda the right area? Sure... As long as your tolerances are +/- 5mm on the first day, and maybe +/- 10mm a couple of weeks from now... And that you don't mind being at the far end of that tolerance all the time, you should be okay. But that size tolerance, means you'd be doing just as well if you marked with your eyes closed.

Having watched this, I now assume the whole channel is an elaborate hoax.

Very useful if you're holding a burrito on the other hand

First why did you tap the pencil and second why do all this extra stuff. Use a carpenter pencil to scribe your lines. Any pencil works for woodworking. But carpenter pencils are designed to not slide or roll.

If you've only got one hand that's a great idea.

Ok to start with I work with hot glue all the time (I’m an upholsterer) hot glue will NOT adhere to plastic under ANY pressure (marking with the pencil) false

Threaded pencils….. that’s how i can accurately screw myself.

Maybe you only have one hand/arm. maybe you can only get one hand/arm into the space to mark the thing you need to mark. little things like this all go towards making life a little better for someone.

Buy a Hultafors Talmeter instead - much better and reliable.

Now you can't clip the tape on your belt.

Ruff in framing maybe but know way building cabinets or fine wood working big difference. To some debatable to others nothing to debate over
