Carnuntum was from the 40s of the 1st century after Christ Roman seat, capital of the province of Pannonia/Upper Pannonia. It lies in the cadastral territory of today's municipalities Petronell and Bad Deutsch-Altenburg in Lower Austria near Bratislava.
