I am 71 and never in my life have I had beef tongue or ox heart. After watching your video I ordered a tongue online and cooked it the way you explain it in your video. Amazing to say the least. I gave some to my 2 grandkids (I didn't tell them what it was until afterwards) and they loved it too.

I grew up eating this and always loved it! I haven’t had it for some time because my mom (who has been gone for awhile now) would make it. It’s time for me to make it now, so thank you for the reminder and the recipe! Here’s a suggestion for those who might have others turned off by saying they are making and eating “tongue”. Being of Mexican background we never said tongue but said the Spanish word for it: “Lengua” (pronounced “LEN-gwah”). Maybe you can have some otherwise apprehensive friends and family try it if you say you’re cooking lengua tonight. They’ll think you’re cooking up an exotic dish, lol.

I just tried beef tongue today. Where has this been all my life? It is so good! My husband smoked a pork butt yesterday. He cut off a bunch of fat and saved it for me. I did have to pressure Cooke my tongue about twice the amount you did. I crisped up the fat while I peeled and sliced the tongue. Then I browned up slices of the tongue. Unbelievably good! I will be getting tongue again!!

Lovely. My father would make beef tongue once a year for New Year’s Eve. I tasted it first when I was about 7 or 8. Loved it. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. They wouldn’t even try it. Neither would my Mom. That’s OK. More for me and Dad!

something you should try that's one of my favorites is halibut cheeks. it's just white fish meat that's just like the rest of the fish with 2 exceptions, it's stringy like chicken unlike flaky like the rest of the fish meat, and it's a tad sweeter than the rest of the meat too. it's so good. no need to cook it special either. you can bake it, pan sear it, fry it, grill it. it's really good. i like what's called "halibut olympia" where you mix together seasonings, garlic, onion, cooked bacon, sour cream, mayo, cream cheese and shredded cheese and spread that mixture on top of it and bake it. it's so good.

OMG...sooo surprisingly good .the texture is so tender! I sliced it sort of diagonally lengthwise and made thin steaks. Adding freshly ground sea salt on that hot crispiness was awesome. Tho I'm likely to go dairy-free soon...organic sour cream paired super well..and if someone is still seasoning w a bit of herbs ..cilantro! Peeling the skin of the tongue was just as you said...very weirdly satisfying...Ha! My kitties loved the water left over and the chewier parts all dices up. Kitties are goin carnivore too! Thanks so much for the clean healthy recipes for those of us who have more limitations. I'm inching towards that super clean goal...with zero sacrifice on flavor thanks to your videos!

We grew up with Lengua. My Mom boiled it on the stove with onion, garlic, Bay leaves and garlic and salt. The broth was so wonderful to drink especially in winter months. Flavoring the beef tongue gave the broth so much flavor and was used to make rice or Fideo etc. The peel of the tongue was chopped and given to the dogs/cats. Every body got a taste. Anyway after peeling it Mom would slice the tongue and fry till crispy. Yummy I cook it the same way for my family.

If it wasn’t for the fact that she has blue eyes and it appears your eyes are brown, you gals could be identical twins. Same color hair even. If you get the chance google her. The only thing I’ve seen her in is a crime drama series called “Traces”. Anyway, I thought I would mention it because the likeness between you two is uncanny. Good recipe for beef tongue btw.
