We just came off this cruise ship this past Sunday (4/17/2022). We did a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas... me and my 4 children ages 3,9,13,16 & their grandparents. Overall it was great and my kids and I had a great time! We just flew back home from FL yesterday and my kids are already wanting to plan another cruise for next year! Some things we really liked - Everything was very clean; there's a lot of staff constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything. All staff that we encountered were courteous and smiling etc. The cruise director, Dustin, was very up-beat, fun and informative. Our room attendant, Romano, was amazing... greeted us daily individually by name, we didn't have to ask for anything because he was always on it to keep everything restocked and cleaned. They had a nice selection of events and shows to satisfy all age groups (was just an issue for some to access the times/locations). They played a good selection of music and movies that was neutral for a variety of age groups. Nice selection of different food items to satisfy everyone. We enjoyed the interactive activities on the main deck; the DJ, the dancing to music with a lead instructor. The shops on deck 5 were tax free! Some things we did not like - There are a lot of activities onboard for everyone to do, but practically everything closed early. After 5 pm, there isn't a lot for children to do outside of the arcade or swimming... I believe the childrens' individual room keys should not be able to be used to on the arcade games... or there should be some kind of limit that notifies the parent or the parent is able to set a daily limit on their room keys before it shuts them down for the day. My 16 year old took my 9 and 13 year old to the kids club room I think it was called O2... however, my 9 year old was too young to get in so they ended up next door at the arcade instead where they could all go in and where they were able to swipe their personal room keys on the games, not knowing it was linked to my card... and I was not aware either that my credit card automatically linked to my kids' room keys also, but they racked up a nice little bill in the arcade. Parent's should have the option to block off their credit cards to link only to their own room key and not to their kid's room key too. We were also disappointed that basketball closed at 5pm and golf closed at 4pm. My oldest son has a skin condition and doesn't swim so after everything closed he stayed in the room mostly the rest of the night, and we thought golf stayed open til 5 also so we went up around 4 but it was closing also. Would be nice if both stayed open a little longer. Being on the top deck and hot, it's a little better when the sun isn't so beaming hot for elderly people like my parents and people with skin conditions like my son. There was tons of shows and events happening every day, all day long at different locations on the ships, but I never could get the carnival wifi to work on my phone so we had to frequently ask crew members what was going on and where/ what time etc, and usually we were just told to download the app; which was not working because the wifi. My daughter was the only one who was able to use the ship wifi and access the app once we hit international waters, but she was usually gone swimming or in the kids' club, so we had to constantly ask crew members, and some we not exactly sure either, so there was a lot of shows or events we either didn't know about until after or didn't know where/what time it was. A lot of other's I talked to had issues with using the ship wifi to access the app... it seemed to be hit or miss for people... it would have been nice if there was an alternative way to view them...maybe something posted on the main deck as well of all the shows/events names/dates/times/locations. Also, we checked into Camp Ocean for my 3 year old before we even booked so that she could play with some kids her age each day for a little bit. Online, it says for ages 2-11 but once on the ship Camp Ocean told us she had to be atleast 5 years old and vaccinated, which is not was it says online... and a little crazy since the rest of us were required to be vaccinated to even board the ship except younger children... but children under 11 could board w/o being vaccinated so at that point they're already on the ship soo...??? But regardless, the age group listed online for camp ocean says 2-11 but my 3 year old was "too young" regardless of the fact that she's not vaccinated either. Camp Ocean did however give her a drawstring bag of activities since they wouldn't allow her in. My biggest upset though, was the surprise $293 "gratuity" charge that I woke up to on the last day in my mail box and had to go down to guest services and stand in line to pay. I found out from other guest that EVERYONE is charged $13.99 gratuity charge for each day, which was NEVER disclosed to us before hand. We never ordered any kind of room service, I bought 2 drinks the entire time we were on the ship and I tipped very well for both, we left a nice tip for our room attendant in both mine and my parents rooms, which neither of us ordered any room service but they were both very kind, greeted us each day by name and cleaned our room, and we even left a tip on our table anytime we were in the dining hall for the ones who cleared the tables. We used ABSOLUTELY NO other services!!!! This was our first cruise but we of course have stayed in hotels before here and there and I had never tipped houekeeping or whatever before but our room attendant; "Romano" was his name, was excellent, and greeted me and my kids each morning by name and constantly asked if we needed anything, kept our room stocked to where we never had to ask for towels or anything, and made different little fun animals out of our towels each day that my younger kids enjoyed. it was really nice that they made it feel personable by quickly knowing and referring to us all by name and it just made me want to do something nice in return for his amazing service. My point is tips are EARNED... Any service we used, which was very little, we tipped well so I think it was a big rip off being charged $13.99 PER DAY, PER PERSON in "tips" charges, over half of my guests were minors who used no services at all other than having our room cleaned/restocked, in which I left a nice tip in the room for our attendant. I'm a single parent and new business owner... it takes several years to build up a business and clientele and this is only my 2nd year, product and overhead usually eats majority of my revenue and I sometimes just break even... but my point is I had to save, budget and sacrifice for a long, long time to be able to take my kids on this vacation and honestly, the surprising $300 charge was not at all in my budget; it may not be much to some but $300 is a nice chunk of money to me. I, too, work in an industry where we earn tips; tips are EARNED. Some people tip and some do not, that's just the way it is, but many do tip something when service is exceptional, like our room attendant, Romano, which was the first time I had tipped for someone cleaning/stocking our room... but it was well deserved. I normally receive tips from clients but sometimes some people don't tip, even when I thought I had done a good job...but I don't take it personal. I run a business and I would never charge a "tip" fee. A tip is a kind gesture for good service, it's not a requirement. It's just absolutely ridiculous to bill someone a $300 surprise "tip" fee for 2 drinks and room cleaning/stocking WHEN I PERSONALLY TIPPED FOR THOSE SERVICES myself willingly, not to mention 4 of the 7 guest WERE MINORS and used absolutely NO SERVICES or bought any drinks etc other than our room cleaning that I tipped for. Apparently you have to opt out of this before hand, which of course they don't tell you, and I'm not sure if that's even true, I was just told this by another guest AFTER receiving the bill in my mailbox the morning of check out, then you have to stand in the long line at guest services at the last minute. So just a heads up!! Make sure you account for this robbery expense ahead of time OR OPT OUT AHEAD OF TIME... because they certainly aren't going to tell you about it, and when you have several guest it really adds up and is absolutely unnecessary when you've used very minimal services and already tipped individually for those services (2 drinks for only 1 person!!!) but yet each person is charged daily for a grand total of a surprise $300 tip bill for 3 days

    1. I've been on many Carnival cruises and gratuities are always clearly disclosed when booking. You can either choose to pay when you book or pay after the cruise. 2. Gratuities are NOT mandatory. You simply have to go to guest services and ask to have them removed (If you want to be that person). 3. Gratuities are divided between many people: your cabin steward and his assistants, the dining room staff servers, hosts, bussers (including the people who serve and clean up in the buffet areas) and other people that you might not interact with but support the people you do interact with. If you only tip certain people you are screwing over all of the people that work just as hard for you. Paying the gratuity on your bill is actually much more fair for everyone. 4. Of course they are going to count children.....children usually make much more of a mess than adults and they still go to the restaurants and buffets. When you go to a restaurant do you only tip on the amount for the adult meals or the whole ticket? 5. The crew members really depend on tips as they are not paid very well. And they earn every cent of it (often working 16-18 hours a day). If you don't want to tip don't cruise.

no way u complained about it being hot🤣🤣 I’ve been on a cruise almost every year since i was born not this particular ship, but half carnival and half RC so i know what i’m talking about and all the things you listed are just cruise things cruises are amazing and they’re amazing i’ve loved going on them you just gotta understand there’s 3000 people on that boat you’ve got to look after yourself and your family it doesn’t matter what you paid because everyone else on that boat paid the same if not more no one is going to go out of their way to make it better for your family that’s your job my parents always made the cruise amazing for us if you can’t do that for your kids that’s your fault it’s a cruise make the best of it don’t pay attention to the bad things and stay focused on the amazing things that you experienced and did because it’s a CRUISE love it while you can your only on it for a week or so

I caught a glimpse of myself and my family on your film, since we were on this cruise. We had been scheduled for the Horizon before it went lame with its propulsion. But, it turned out to still be a nice vacation. Dustin was an energetic and hilarious Cruise Director. Tell him "dancing grandma" sends her regards. Shout out to Angger at the Mongolian wok, and making the best morning omelets too, and Margyrita our room steward. So many nice crew folks. Too many to name, but not forgotten.

There are some TLC items that can be worked on but that is fine. Great to see all the cleaning and painting around the ship going on. Wondering if they are considering doing Cucina Del Capitano where the BBQ is located. Also wonder if there is a waterpark update in her future?

According to Dustin, the cruise director, for this sailing we had about 1500 passengers, and the ship hold about 2900. You can see on this film that it was not crowded and the ship was pleasant with less people congregating, especially when it came to the food lines and inside the restaurants. Many tables were empty, leaving distance between folks.
