To the lady who complained in the video that it felt as if they were at the mercy of the captain and crew to navigate the storm for them, you are correct. That is how it works.
How dare a cruise ship control the weather to make our experience worse.
This lady is unbelievable. The captain and crew were fantastic. What do you expect when you're on the ocean? Blue skies and a calm sea are not guaranteed.
The caption did an awesome job getting home safe! He didn't communicate because he was focused on keeping the ship afloat battling the night and bashing waves!
it's the ocean. it does that
A couple of things- 1. My in laws and some of my husbands family were on this ship during the storm. From their point of view- there were announcements made from the cruise director to keep everyone informed and calm durning the storm. 2. My husband has a ship tracker on his phone and you can CLEARLY see where the captain tried to go around the storm but it was too big and just had to try to get people back to safety. I say THANK YOU to the captain and the crew for doing what it took to bring my family back home safe 🤍
Great job by the Captain and crew for getting everyone home safely. Rough sea weather is a chance you take when you embark on a cruise. I was on a voyage and got caught in a tropical storm off the coast of South Carolina several years ago. It was very much like the conditions they were describing. I trusted the professionals to do their job and made the best of it. Got everyone back to port safe and sound then as well.
Kudos to the Capt. & Crew. Lady, nobody cares if your feelings were hurt but I'm glad you're physically safe!
People should know they can't control the weather
As a sailor, I have to say. In an emergency, there is only focus. There is no room to make you feel OK. Hats off to that captain!! Good job! 🫡
My husband and I have cruised several times and hit two horrible storms, we were told we hit 19 foot waves in one and high winds, so they closed off the top deck for most of the trip. The captain kept us up to date occasionally, but we were never worried. It was a big ship and she handled it great. Sure our feet lifted out from under us a couple times, but we were in a storm, we held onto hand rails and were careful. The crew and captain did their jobs.
"Now with Ollie for the weather. Ollie?"
There is always a risk you take when you are on these cruises. The weather is not 100% predicted. The reason the captain didn’t come on to reassure you is because he was busy making sure you all would be docking and getting to the land safely. Be grateful you survived!
Anger at what? They got a storm, they got through safe. Kudos to the captain and crew.
My best friend worked on ships for years and some of the video she sent me of storms was terrifying, those passengers are fortunate they had a dedicated well trained captain and crew to see them through it.
Imagine getting on a boat as an adult and not realizing your life is in the hands of the operator... hows that person made it this far?
Imagine being mad about mother nature and acting like it's the captains fault that he can't control the weather
Here's a better story: "Cruise Captain Battles through Storm for 12 Hours. Passengers Make It Home Safe." Great job, Captain!
Well that's the risk you take when you are on the water. Weather can change in an instant and sometimes there's no way around it, only through. As a new boater myself (small private boat on the Chesapeake), I remind myself everytime I go out that nature will nature, the ocean and its weather are powerful and there's no stopping it. The captain and his crew did a fantastic job of keeping them safe and alive
It couldn’t be a network news story unless someone was outraged.
