I am from the Rio Grande Valley and this is how you make authentic carne gisada. This one some home made flour tortillas and we're talking serious eating. This is usually served with rice and beans and tortillas de harina. Are you sure you're not from Brownsville TX?

I think that lancerwest guy that also did a carne guisada just basically re-did your video. Everything was the exact same way you did it to the T, even in the measurements and all.....LOL oh well, to each's own..I will try this and then comment on the outcome, thanks for sharing!

Just about every cantina in the 5 boroughs has Carne Guisada. Don't be afraid to go in and eat at these places. The food is always good and at even better prices.

San Antonio here. This looks like a pretty standard and authentic Carne Guisada recipe, but I must say, there should be about 1/8th cup of cumin and several tablespoons of both fresh (leafy) and ground (seed) coriander.

It might be nyc's version of mexican food. the closest to what i grew up with is tequila's on 2nd and 7th and Las Palapas on Church. If you know of any other place. Do tell!!

Pretty close. I wouldn't use celery though. You are right. The more you brown the meat, the better the sauce. Restaurants don't take the time to do that and they dump tons of meat in a giant pot and it stews instead of browns which results in a gray sauce rather than a brown savory one. Also, if you make your own tortillas and a pot of fresh pinto beans with fresh salsa ooo wee!

Why do they say, " I'm going to give this a taste." like it's the first time they make it and don't know what it taste like.. I mean I'm sure he made it a hundred times, and knows what it taste like.. that will never seize to amaze me.. not just his vid.. but all other food vids.. although I will say it looked perfect till he turned it into a bowled burrito.. I eat that up with fresh flour tortillas, refried beans, and Mexican red rice :D NOM NOM!
