Thanks, Greg. Each of your videos seems add to my information database - even if much of it is in my head. A lot of my avocado varieties are still in 15-25 ga pots because I haven’t decided how and where I’ll plant them on my small yard. I’m planning on planting the Lamb Hass, nearly stumping my 12-year-old Holiday and grafting other varieties onto both of those. I like the taste of the CARMEN HASS, I just don’t have any place plant them. I’ll use them for budwood when they get large enough. Your videos are the Yardposts that all others use as a guide.

Thanks for the Carmen info. I have two Carmen tree. Both from Brokaw, but one on clonal planted in ground mid 2021 and the other on their seedling rootstock in a 5 gallon pot. The in ground has flowered here in Riverside, CA early February and again late April. Early fruits are close to golf ball size the others are tiny fruitlets. It’s interesting to see the multiple flowering cycles. The tree is semi compact with some growth spurts here and there. I don’t have a Hass to compare it to. 🤙🏽

Those are some beautiful trees Greg. I like how you showed the variety of Carmen trees in different locations. The location does really make a difference in how Carmen blooms. I have two Carmen trees. One is more round and the other is more narrow. I know there has been quite a lot of hype about the multiple blooms of Carmen. My trees have bloomed twice in a year but not every year, my trees are young too so that is a variable to be considered. Carmen trees look different then other avocado trees and I like the way they look. Thanks for posting the video about Carmen. It is very interesting to see how this variety can behave so differently in different climates. Very cool.

Thanks, Sam. I thought it was especially important to show Carmen at different ages in different locations because of its variable behavior. I had a heck of a lot more footage that I left out so the video wouldn't be long and boring, but I wanted to get across the point that this variety is less predictable than most. I'm not able to predict its behavior very well, anyway! Keep me post on how your Carmens perform.

Very good information, my Carmen Hass is flowering since November 2023. My tree have fruit set from flowers in November, February, April and setting fruit now, and small amount of new flowers now. My house is in Lake Forest CA., about 9.5 miles from the beach. The grafts of Carmen Hass were done on March 2022.

Thanks Greg, you standout from other avocado guys because you usually make much more factual videos with real substance. Your report on Mendez Hass is even better by incorporating observations at a few other locations. 4:46, at SC County, I am curious if that is at Ellen & Freddy's place.

One problem with the multiple fruit sets is that after a year on the tree, you can not tell which fruit are which. It seems like a good thing in theory but I am not sure its good in practice.

I've been trying to get year-around fruit harvesting with grafting, and the Carmen might be a good addition. Haven't seen it in nurseries, so I wonder how hard it is to find.
