The recording with Berganza and Domingo has always been my favorite. Unlike many singers who portray Carmen as a tigress, Berganza presents her like a subtle sex kitten, and I like this approach. In more recent years, I enjoy very much the DVD with Antonacci and Kaufmann.

Don José è forse il ruolo più nelle corde di Domingo, per vocalità e temperamento, così finisce per essere sempre lui la voce più a fuoco in questa opera. Interprete di riferimento in ogni caso, si unisce ad una folta schiera di predecessori illustri (forse segno evidente che è un ruolo piuttosto comodo per il tenore, un pò come anche Cavaradossi). Chi ha una bella voce timbrata fa un figurone in questo ruolo!!

La version studio de Carmen avec Berganza et Domingo avait Ileana Cotrubas, mais qui sait pourquoi ils ont choisi la Ricciarelli cette fois-ci.

Terrible recording !. But, Carmen, still Carmen !
