The thing that bugs me about Southgate is his lack of respect for the rest of the players in the squad. I could understand underusing them if they were half as talented as the players he refuses to drop. But they are not. They have proven themselves at the highest level in the prem. Yet he is giving them 2 minutes of injury time in the pitch. Even Trent gets a few minutes if at all and he’s one of the most talented in the squad.

Spoiled ? What have they got ?

The legendary "Mr. Padre" (Tony Gwynn) once said, "It's not always going to be pretty, sometimes you're going to play ugly. But at the end of the day all that matters is whether or not you got the W." If England win a trophy through ugly football so be it, at the end of the day what matters is silverware.

Yeah, England fans have been so spoilt....

How about in each future tournament, we lost 3:4, lose 2:3, win 3:2 and always couldn't qualify in the group stage and we enjoy so much for the football and French, Dutch, Argentian, Brazilian and German humiliates you everyday for being loser in tournament in the next 20 years.

I remember we enjoyed 5:1 win between England and Germany at Sven Ericcson, a joy to watch, and in every tournament, England had crashed out during group stage. as England fan can't even enjoy more than 10 days of World cup (Total world cup time possibly 26 days)

I used to get really into these tournaments and support England. I would have been chewing my fingernails off in a pen shootout. Weirdly I didn't care whether we won or lost. Not sure why.

The problem is when the team eventually loses then the type of play will matter

I know what he’s getting at. There’s a common narrative at the moment that we are apparently the best team in the world and we have loads of world class players. In fact, we are so good, managing this team is a simple procedure because of the endless talents that we have at our disposal. And when something goes just slightly wrong, we are all going to stamp up and down because we are cross that we have been let down by this rubbish manager, and it’s nothing short of a disgrace. He has ruined our EUROs. It’s that kind of spoilt attitudes/behaviours. It’s like bringing up an only child and you treating it like it’s a level above the King of England. Only for the poor mug to start mixing with the riff-raff and realise he isn’t all the special.
