What happened next? How did Anish Giri and Daniil Dubov try to troll Magnus and how did Magnus respond back! Also check out this high class positional game played by the World Champion against the talented Armenian Haik Martirosyan. I'm super new to chess. Can someone explain to me the win? From my perspective, I can see a few different moves but I can't see the checkmate. For example, why not use the bishop to take the queen at the end? Or why not push the King forward? Thanks in advance.

Hey, so in professional chess most games are rarely ever played to “checkmate”. Most chess players will resign sometime before if they’re in a significantly losing position. In this case, black could have kept playing for a long time but the outcome would be the same - he would lose. It’s a bit like letting football teams forfeit when they go 6-0 down, there’s no point playing the rest.

After the game ends if both KINGS are on the BLACK SQUARE then black won either by resignation ,checkmate or time out and if WHITE SQUARE then white won by same rules and if black king is on white and white king is on black square that means the game is a DRAW

If the bishop takes the queen, then that leaves blacks queen free to take by the white rook, which in the end, black loses a queen AND a rook, and white only loses a queen. By then black would be significantly behind.

You can clearly see the position from that angle. This comment could only come from someone who is used to online chess and hasn‘t seen a lot of otb chess.
