CarlinKit CPC200-A2A Android Auto Wireless Adapter (Android 10+)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After the reception of my AAWireless review, I was offered a look at CarlinKit's wireless Android Auto adapter.
This device allows your Android 10+ phone to wirelessly connect to a "wired only" Android Auto solution.
We're going to unbox it, upgrade it and test it for you in this video.
Note: This was provided free of charge without expectation of a positive review. Amazon affiliate links help support the channel when you use them - Thank you!

    I'm getting one. Purely because our car's USB ports are terrible for charging modern phones. I prefer 12VDC sockets and upgrade the 12VDC to USB adaptor to QuickCharge 4 or newer.

    @MonroeWorld gonna be honest I have a 12-15 minute ride to work. On the way there and home I got 4 disconnects not super happy about that. Also the fact that I still have to have a device connected to a wire tucked in the side pocket of the center column does not comfort me. The device connects in what feels like 10-12 secs but in that time u could handle plugged my phone in and tucked it in the side compartment on the console. It will probably get returned but on a side not I might now be an android auto guy. Sucks that with either choice I have to have a wire and a device tucked away.

    @@MrDejavu1982 You know, my wife has 2 "dead zones" in her commute. I told her she was crazy and she must have a shorted cable or something. So I drove her exact route. Sure enough? There are two zones that literally KILL wireless android auto. I cannot explain why or what is causing it -- but it is guaranteed ... EVERY time. Four disconnects on that short of a commute does seem suspect. For me the advantage of not wearing on my phone's plug was my #1 reason. You may check out AAWireless - they have a unit too. We have both.

    @@Darkuni So I did some running before work and it worked flawlessly so I will do more testing. After getting to work I did an update (what a pain in the A thank you again for the video) that included bug fixes and updates. After the update, the webpage looked completely different so it worked and as stated earlier will do more testing now that the device has been updated.

    Thanks for your review! I have just ordered mine from Amazon, after watching this review! It's crazy though that we have to buy these devices though, as I know my car has All the hardware in the car to have wireless AA, it has Bluetooth 5.0 and a built in WiFi hotspot, all it would need is the software added to the car and it could use that built-in hardware to have wireless Android Auto & also Apple Car Play too, it's just silly why they didn't just add it from new? I wonder if it is some regulation thing that the car manufacturers have to go through, and to cut costs they just don't bother!? It's like my car also has all-round cameras and has a top-down 360° parking camera, but it will only show a close up curb camera view for the passenger side, not the driver side, which is so stupid, why not let me have a curb camera for both sides, the hardware is there, it's just not in the software, and I park close the the curb on the drivers side most the time, so I really could use that, but again, the hardware is there, but the software isn't! 🤔😠

    This is now $38 on Amazon as there are newer versions, but, based on what I've seen on this one, I don't see a reason for a more expensive newer version when this one should still work just fine.

    Nice review, thank you. The AAWireless has an option to turn off the device when the headunit powers off, is this unit always on or can it be set to turn off like the AAWireless? Can the CarlinKit be plugged into any vehicle usb port or does it have to be in the Android Auto dedicated usb port?

  • @Darkuni

    @Darkuni

    Жыл бұрын

    As far as I know it must be plugged into an Android auto port. As for being able to turn off? I don't remember seeing that setting in the configurations when I looked, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Unfortunately my wife has this unit now so it's a little harder for me to check in on it ...

    Nice video! I just had one delivered but it doesn't work with the phone I bought it for - Samsung A12. The A12 only has 2.4ghz wifi and it doesn't see the A2A. An old Nokia phone, which has 5.0ghz wifi sees the A2A and works well. The A2A spec says it has 2.4ghz, does it have to be enabled somehow?
