CarLife: I LIFTED my Toyota Prius... testing it out off-road!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've been living and traveling in my Prius for roughly the past year, and I just put a 40 mm lift kit (about 1.5 inches) on my 2006 Toyota Prius. This is my first time testing it off road and it did great. The reason I put a lift on my Prius is because I would always scrape the bottom while driving on dirt roads while traveling cross country, and I really needed the extra ground clearance. The company I ordered it from is called "Prius Offroad" and they are based in California.
I have been living and traveling cross-country out of my Prius for 2020-2021 and seeing all kinds of neat things, and plan on making more videos in the future.

I ever try to design a wind mill turbine to charge betery, and better drive the heating blanket. But I don't have tools to build turbine of wind mill. It must be a easy carried and small size. I'm 6'4 tall, 240 lbs and have severe arthritis at age 61 and my 2nd TKR has not healed well and still hurts but I leave home for up to 2 months at a time and go traveling/camping. My previous camper car was an '04 Neon with a platform bed and no interior except the driver seat. I could stretch out a little more with my feet in the trunk but the biggest difference was getting in and out of the rear doors. The Prius is higher overall inside so regardless of how I enter the cabin to sleep or get out in the morning is always difficult for me but the climate control and better mpg's are worth it. My car is a '13 and after 3 years of ownership I will be adding the lift kit in a few weeks myself: I'm also saving for new KYB front struts and the stainless Cat shield. The 2nd Gen Prius have more desirable Cats but I still don't want to lose mine while parked and touring a strange city. The car can be made even taller with bigger tires or larger rims but I doubt I will go that far; the less subtle the better.

If you do the lift I definitely recommend new struts and rear shocks, the oe springs are good for a long while, if you want your rear to be stiffer and to handle load better add some firestone coilrite air helper springs. Super easy to install and you can technically adjust your stiffness, it will also add a bit of height to your rear end if not loaded and higher pressure in the bags. My replacement recommendations are based on high mileage. If yours are fairly new I wouldn't worry too much

It took me about 10 hours to install it, I had to buy about $50 worth of tools that I didn't have. Then you need an alignment afterwards which is like $100. if you take it to a shop, they will charge you at least $800 to install it... It's not hard to do, it just takes a while. You have to remove each strut and mount the lift spacer on top of each strut and then bolt it back onto the car

I think the cheaper lift kits work fine, the problem is some people say that the holes don't line up properly for the bolts and you might have to weld a few things, I don't know if that's true or not. There's also a kit for $130 on Amazon by a company named tema in Russia
