Carleton University - CIVE 3208 Lab 6: Direct Shear Test
-About the shear box apparatus
-Which soil to use
-How to assemble the shear box
-How to perform the experiment (motor speed, strain gauges, setup the software)
-Why to perform the test at different load levels
-How to calculate apparent cohesion and friction angle

Thanks for this! Cleared up a lot of confusion!
This is indeed an extremely useful video.
Great video. Quick note: those displacement sensors are not strain gauges. They are DCDT or LVDT sensors, a type of differential transformer. Strain gauges generally are the metallic bonded variable resistors.
very cleary and neatly explained!
Very nice video!
nice test ....i hope to see ,more ....about metallic and non metallic materials tests
thanks for dis useful video..
very useful video thank you
thanks a lot!
good job :)
excellent, Thank you
Thanks so much
Why is the normal load so high? Will that be realistic as per field normal load?
good ,thanks a lot
thanks
WHO CAME HERE AFTER THE CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN!?
but you do not show what happen exact
what is the apparent cohesion of the soil, what does this mean?
What's different between normal stress and shear stress?

Normal stress acts perpendicular to the surface whereas shear acts parallel or along the horizontal plane.
thanx alooooooot
Saving my ass.
bruh you were 1 second off
thanks
