It was a lie. Jimmy attempted to psyche Carl out and render him impotent by getting him to believe his transcendence was a mere mundane drug trip that'll he'll come down from eventually and realize nothing actually happened. Did you mean to say that they are 3D characters, and that as 3D characters, Carl ascends from the 3rd Dimension into the 4th (which is a nice little detail ngl)?

Alright let's get this straight, we live in 4 dimensions. 1 Height 2 Width 3 Depth 4 Time All of them are needed to locate a person in a city. You need to know the location of the building (latitude and longitude aka. Height and Width), the floor they are on (Height) and the time that you want to meet them.

Actually we have 3 spacial dimensions and 1 temporal dimension, and so since time is the first temporal dimension, the 4th dimension is a spacial one. Unless he transcended from the 1st temporal all the way to a 4th temporal, but I've never even heard of higher temporal dimensions, and that is quite the jump.
