He's a smooth talker trying to be post modern- feel good find your own truth- it's not the true Gospel then the doctrine to back it up..music is not the focus - the teaching is far more precious to bear in mind. osteen is a false teacher..yet lentz is a inclusive message not exclusive.

+Matthew Pettersen I'm not saying he didn't do both. Ismail t-k said that is WHY he came, and that simply isn't true. If that was his ultimate purpose, you're agreeing with those who just said Jesus was a good man and a good moral teacher.

Ismail t-k I kinda liked what he said there about behavioral modification. which by the way it's biggest tool is the teachings of hell and eternal immortal soul burning.... but transforming the heart is done through belief in Christ. so when you get a new heart one that yearns for God in LOVE.. THEN your behavior will auto correct but he even said it doesn't always completely fix itself and if they woulda let him expound on that I'm sure he would have said it's bc we still do have the flesh even with the new heart. don't be too quick to judge. you think your are being like Jesus when you do but can YOU see the heart and know it? ? only Jesus could so that's why He was able to pass such profound and accurate judgments.

I know, Im a devout Christian, and as a Christian -repentance, walking with the LORD in humility and, modesty, and above all things the blood of Jesus is the only way to salvation...Carl in this interview never speaks of repentance, no humility as you can see he prides on his celebrity status, and the way he is dressed you see no modesty in his appearance. And yes he says Jesus, but what Jesus? Bc he is not representing the Jesus of the bible. I too saw him on this show when it first came out, and I knew something was wrong with this guy....fast forward, and seeing the the double life this man was living, you realize how the bible warns us of wolves in sheep's clothing. And how deception will plague the church in the end days.

My Bible says, Be not conformed to this world. Jesus did come to change people, from sinners to saints. This man puts on a show, and draws in those who don`t want the truth. but a feel good experience. He and Joel O. are not preaching the gospel, but new age. Jesus said that following him, the world would hate you. The world loves these men! This is the last days! We better know the word, because Jesus said, that even the very elect could be deceived by whats coming. if God had not shortened the days. Its coming quick! Better have your lamps full!!!!

Some honest questions. Was Jeremiah tearing the People of God apart when he warned the Jews of Idolatry in Jeremiah 32:33-34? Was Paul tearing other Christians apart when he wrote in 2 Timothy 4:3 "3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions" Any preacher that locks arms with a false teacher of the Prosperity Gospel such as J. Osteen needs to be called out & held accountable as well as Osteen too. We are in the days where most churches want their ears scratched to hear what 'they want to hear' not what God wants us to hear.

We do need more pastors/teachers of God to start teaching the word not with just there words but with the most powerful written word of God and then people will be transformed by Gods word and his truth so the truth will set them free. I pray that this new generation of young people will not only feel good but will read Gods word instead of depending on a pastor/teacher to tell them what Gods word is. They need the word of God as the sword of the spirit. Praying that the Holy Spirit will enlighten these new pastors to truly teach instead of being an obstacle for the the next generation must have a thirst and a hunger for Gods word in order to fight the spiritual battles they will face.

this is all very sad. condemnation and legalism are the worst representations of God's heart for humanity & who He truly is. Jesus spoke against the religionists of HIS day for just such behavior. He didn't run around calling a prostitute a prostitute, He loved her. Thru HIS Love, she faced her own sin & desired a changed life. this is the same way we should be representing Him. It's no secret what the Bible says about all sin. It seems that the church has done a good job of making that abundantly clear. i can't imagine how many dear men & women created in HIS very image died having no idea that He loved them so dearly because we have been so adamant about stating the obvious. We would all do well to respect that we may not understand the diversity of callings God has placed on people's lives. if we don't like the way someone preaches, we should steward our time well by not watching them, certainly ought not to be slandering, for, should these men be of God's anointing, those who slander face a greater judgment. watch the style of preaching you like or change the station. It's very simple. this forum & the bulk of the statements here make it very clear why the world is not changing at a rampant pace at the hands of Christians. We are all too busy bashing & stabbing, judging & condemning. time well spent. May the God of peace be with all & His Mercy shown on we all who folly boundlessly. blessings

You can't be a Christian unless you've recognized you're a sinner. I think too many of us brothers and sisters are too quick to point the finger and judge not recalling that the Bible teaches us “For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬...let's stop pointing the fingers at others and point to Jesus. Let's stop over complicating the gospel and remember God's two greatest commandments. “Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:37, 39‬ ‭NLT‬‬...not becoming like those self-righteous Pharisees who were actually hypocrites that loved to appear good on the outside but had no love for God or others on the inside...

The reason church should feel uncomfortable is not because of the people that attend, but because of the presence of God being so strong and real that a person feels that he/she is doing wrong and that person needs to change. It's called CONVICTION, meaning that God himself comes down to visit you in a service and speaks to your heart concerning the present stage that you're in. Lets be honest, everyone of us has faults, that's why we need the transformation power of Christ to change us. Carl Lentz says that he is not trying to change people, but on the contrary, we should do everything we can to try and change a life without the use of CONDEMNATION. That means a change in lifestyle for a believer, beginning from your appearance to the way you talk and carry yourself. The whole reason why anyone should go to church, is to change from what they currently are, which is a carnal and world-bound human, into a spiritual and heaven-bound saint. Church should have a a certain feel about it, a feeling that's almost an uneasy feeling, which causes one to examine there own heart, and make a decision to turn from their sins and follow Jesus. Look at David for an example of worship, he was the man after God's own heart, although throughout his life, he was a continual sinner. Under strong conviction, he was made to repent over and over again, asking for God to forgive his sins. "Purge me with hyssop," he said, "and I shall be clean: wash me and I shall be whiter than snow." I wonder if the Hillsong Church NYC has ever had a repentance service. That's what a real Pentecostal service is, and that's the reason why you see all the "weird" stuff in a Pentecostal service, is because people genuinely feel God and his presence invokes a feeling, followed by an action. That's where you see the crying, or the laughters of joy, and the biblical but less taught-about services where people are speaking in tongues. You may not like it, by speaking in tongues are in the bible. Read Acts chapter 2. I've been to many Pentecostal services, and this isn't a Pentecostal church. Sorry Hillsong, but you missed the mark.

This was very interesting to watch. Since I was a teen, Hillsong has impacted my life through music. They finally made worship more easier for me to connect to which helped me grow to appreciate hymns and other types of worship. So I truly appreciate their contribution. Now I'm not going to slam Carl Lentz. I think no one is perfect. But has a teacher, someone who is called to be a shepherd to a flock, he has to be very careful with certain statements. I agree with his "public form" analogy. The minute non-christians hear that you don't agree with X Y and Z, that's all they hear and they are ready to label you as heartless. I think conversation with real love in this day and age is more useful to talk to people about sensitive topics while not compromising truth. But his statement that Jesus didn't talk about morality and social issues, I am sorry to say, is unbiblical. I have nothing against this man but apostles like Paul, James and others point to Jesus statements that explain morality and social issues. Jesus with the Samaritan woman broke barriers when it came to racism, Jesus talked about keeping the commandments, Jesus talked about cheating and lying, paying taxes, Jesus flipped tables when people were disrespecting the sanctity of church and all this in love. There was a reason he was looked at as a threat by the King and pharisees. With all that said, I think Hillsong NYC is doing good things. I don't think Carl Lentz is a false prophet, I think that's very dramatic to say. He's not converting people to a completely false God. I just think sometimes people get it wrong. So I'll just pray for him, that's all I can do.

I don't see how you see this as false teaching. You can disagree with him, but ultimately what he is saying is that he doesn't want to put at the deed they're doing and say they're a wicked person. He wants to lead them to the one who doesn't simply change their habits but changes their hurt. Outward actions will change when the heart changes, that isn't heresy, that's scripture.

Pharon P and Life I'm not saying I 100% agree with him, honestly I rarely even listen to any of these guys. To say that he's a false teacher because he believes people should be heard even if you disagree with their stance is not that outlandish. Joel says, "God's best is not homosexuality" and "God will bring His best if we come to Him." Carl Lentz appears to take a very similar stance. These men clearly believe it's a sin but don't want to isolate any group of people. Should they be harder on sin? Maybe. But that doesn't make them false teachers. Some people want to call everybody false teachers evidently.

Christianity is a relationship and a religion. Just because Carl states something that pleases the world does not make it true.

Deanna Adair You get into heaven if you're clean of sin not if you're the friend of Jesus. A judge doesn't let a criminal off the hook if that's his friend. And if you truly are a friend of Jesus and you love Him, you'll have no problem giving up everything of this world to follow Him and be religious and follow all of His Word.

We've been saved through grace, Jesus is THE WAY the truth and the life. He is the way to heaven, accepting him into your heart. I don't get why Christians hate this guy. Personally i think there is no perfect preacher. Everyone has got their own improvements to make. But to call this guy false preacher is wrong. Just because he is soft spoken that does not have to mean he is a false preacher. Everyone is different. He doesn't believe in making big bold statements about issues like gay marriage. Because that's not what he's about. He's about changing the hearts of men through Jesus. Obviously there are people who would do things differently. But the goal is that we are bringing people to have a relationship with God.

Danielle G YES, according to the God word false pretends teachers will pay a dear price. I used to work for the media-lie industry and seen plenty of satanist, Masons, all kinds of occults, witches more so in my own family. Carl Lentz(hillsong)/Osteen is super team satan. Their temples building they call "churches" are pure witchcraft/bewitching. Both are GENERATIONAL baphomets folks and most likely inverted so their entire physical appearance is even a LIE, everything out the mouth is a LIE, Just like their father satan the father of lies. YUCK!!! Smooth talking serpents working hard for satan deceiving the world. We are so at the end. Jesus is coming real soon. I think these temples are raised in the end times to separate goats from the sheep. But true born again's need to read the Bible everyday, fear the Lord and gain you an understanding . Satan's children know Jesus is coming and tricking/passing nasty laws as soon as they can for the BEAST. The reason why the world burns the second time. Jesus does not play either. He comes down one day with flames in eyes & the wicked will be cut OFF just like Jesus says.

Since when is anybody "biblically" perfect? Nobody is perfect except God. He is spreading "the word" the best way he knows how to. Every single preacher is imperfect and that is something that you will simply have to accept. Do you agree?

You are spot on mossie! What really gets me is that he sounds so humble and so sincere and so genuine..... but.... he preaches from the corrupt The Message version of the bible. His words are as smooth as butter... and many young people listening to him in these situations will think he is completely legitimate and will start following him and/or start going to his church. The devils tongue is as smooth as silk. The devil is cunning in his deception. All those that listen to this false preacher will be cunningly deceived. God bless you all! :)

and he preaches from the corrupt The Message version of the bible. He sounds genuine and Christ like, even mentioning Jesus and saying we should seek relationship as opposed to religion, but this is all to sweet talk Christians to go down a wrong path.

in one recent video, carl lentz and his wife are asked directly about their responsibility to bring to a person's attention any sinful lifestyle choices in his/her life. both carl and his wife dodged the question entirely. but how should we respond to this question? what is the Scriptural position regarding pointing out a person's sin? here is my understanding from the Bible. if a person who has NOT given their life to Jesus starts coming to our church, then i would hope we would love that person, get to know them, show care towards them and during that whole process, we would be always asking The Holy Spirit for His leading as to the right time to tell that person that they can freely receive God's love and forgiveness for themselves but that this wonderful gift is given to us ONLY when we bring our unforgiven condition before our Holy God and confess our sinfulness before Him and believe that His Son Jesu's death on the cross paid the full penalty for the punishment due us for our wilful disobedience and disregard previously shown towards our Loving, Heavenly, Creator, Father God. prior to any of this happening, it is not for us to judge that person for any individual sin. NO! at this point, we are to bring only THE GOOD NEWS which is full forgiveness for all sins and new life in Christ! HALLELUJAH! we are NOT to judge the individual at this point - that is God's responsibility. as it says in 1Cor5:12: For what have I to do with judging those who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?" inside? outside? what does this mean? we MUST understand that if these people we are befriending have NOT confessed their sins before Jesus and have NOT given their lives to Him, then they still do NOT have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them and are therefore still on the 'outside' of God's forgiven family. not my rules, my friend but God's plan. it also says in God's Word that such invisible, spiritual conversations will likely only be foolishness to them. before they receive the Holy Spirit, we should tell them ONLY of their fallen state and the surefire remedy in Jesus. if they do then confess their fallen state before God, they will then receive the Holy Spirit HALLELUJAH! and they will now also be with us on the 'inside'! Amen! this then means that God through His Gentle Holy Spirit can now begin to bring His Love and Grace to bear upon that person's individual sins. (we should not take this as prescriptive however, because the Holy Spirit is NOT methodological and God can choose to work how He wants and when He wants and in what order He wants. but repent first, then believe and then be baptised is usually the way we find ourselves received into God's family). and now also, because that person is now on the inside, we too, as fellow 'inside members' can likewise begin lovingly to show that person where it says in God's Word about holiness and accountability. because with the Holy Spirit dwelling within them, they can now understand God's Word more fully. it is no longer foolishness to them! Amen! we can begin to read God's Word together! and also, so, so importantly, that person will now also need discipling and mentoring in these precious things of God. and so, back to this video, and when carl lentz and his wife are asked about confronting sinful lifestyle choices and they both say that is not their responsibility - in that answer, i think they both dodged the question ENTIRELY. their lips dripping with honey, these two simply pussy-footed around that very important question. yes mr and mrs lentz, in one sense, you are right when you say 'that's their journey.' but you are also VERY, VERY WRONG and you are also doing a gross disservice to God's Word and to your congregation in your candyfloss answers. now, it's your choice to teach as you do but you should know that because you have decided to bring only ear-tickling, performance-led messages contrary to God's Word, then, as it says in James 3, you will be judged more harshly for not pointing out the full, confronting, loving Truth of God's Word - not only in this interview but also weekly to your thousands in your congregation. and so, in summary, as far as i'm concerned, BEWARE this mega-rich, non-confronting, seeker-sensitive movement hillsong (and many like her who are increasingly accenting style over substance and in the process, leading many astray). so, can God still use hillsong to bless us with her songs? of course He can. He used a donkey to deliver a message to Balaam! so He can certainly use hillsong to deliver Jesus-centred worship songs. but here's the rub. God also calls us to be vigilant and to test all spirits to see if they are from God. and i have to say that as a church today, we are NOT doing this to anything like the degree required to keep us from being deceived. wolves are in the pen, my friends. in a strange, Holy Spirit way, maybe God is using hillsong to both bless us and test us at the same time?

What he means by Joel is a "pioneer" and that he paved the way means that Osteen is a catalyst to modern church growth phenomenon. The explosion of pragmatism to accomplish spiritual growth. This movement recognizes that the old method of preaching and teaching Gods Word is not sufficient in getting people to "church". Preaching a message from the Bible on a pulpit inside a traditional church building doesn't attract people to God. The church growth pragmatist then says why use the same old methods? In essence they say, why not appeal to people in their carnal condition to get them in the door? Then they will see the lights, the impressive building, the camera's, the over the top music, the clothes, tattoos and finally the message. The message itself. We won't teach hell or deep spiritual truths or sin and repentance because those things just turn people off. Instead let's teach a different hope that appeals to my carnal nature. Let's tell people God is ok with them how they are and want's them to be successful, happy, wealthy and prosperous. Osteen "paved the way" for this brand of new "church". This is a movement, a fad. It will fade away with all other false gospels. Saul was a pragmatist. Uzzah was a pragmatist. The grass withers and the flower fades but the Word of the Lord stands forever. What these church growth people fail to understand is that God's Word by nature offends people. It confronts mans sinful nature. To make "church" more palatable is to take to offense of the gospel out of the message. The gospel confronts. It is foolishness and a stumbling block to the natural man. God ordained that the foolish message from a foolish preacher would bring in the life altering power of the pure gospel which has the power of God to save. No other message contains this power. Pragmatism is not from God. Any method to produce church members that uses carnal methods of attraction will only prove to build an unregenerate worldly church that will perish with it's "pastors". People heap up for themselves false teachers that their ears may be tickled. Sin, repentence, holy living. Don't come here with that stuff, we don't want it. Speak to us "smooth things".
