Carl Jung Red Book Series - Lecture 2 "Refinding The Soul"

This is the second of seven lectures provided by Joseph about C. G. Jung’s Red Book. The second lecture, Refinding The Soul, begins our journey in the black books as Jung discovers and reveals the soul through his Red Book.
In this lecture we discuss the process of individuation, the alchemical opus, libido (emotional desires), meditation, wholeness, and the essence within that which is represented by the term soul. Just to name a few...
So, sit back and enjoy this philosophical, spiritual, psychological, religious, and mental journey through the unconscious depths of Carl Gustav Jung.
A road where Science truly meets Spirituality.

I think we missed the purpose if you quoted Jung saying not to follow anyone else's path and that he wasn't offering a path then to hear your line by line commentary didn't really cut it for me. Off to look for the audiobook only. But thnx for getting the information out there do believe Jung was on to something with these lectures.

I seriously cannot get over how perfectly you made these lectures man! Your vocal cadence, and pertinent visuals accentuate the entries in the ‘Black’ and ‘Red’ books to absolutely perfection! You don’t meander, interspersing the essay with nonsensical details.. just pure substance. I’ve been so intrigued by these enigmatic books for over a decade now and this past fall decided to really start digging into Jung after rewatching “A Dangerous Method” and I feel so fortunate that you’re uploading these videos at the same time! Synchronicity haha. Seriously, you should be a college professor teaching Jungian psychology and alchemical allegory.

You Sir, are an abSOLute Blessing! I try very hard to focus, study, decipher, integrate and learn about all of the more "Occult" teachings, and or the "Mysteries" with a definitive focus on standard psychological knowledge and functional (or practical) wisdom. And I do ok. But this! This content that you've so graciously provided us with is a pearl, the likes of which I only stumble across by chance every few years. You speak on this subject with a profound and masterful concise-ness, and yet are astoundingly thorough. Incredible work! People need access to this info in any form they may become privy to. And you have laid it all out for us. All the while using precise wording and taking us with you as you work through some of the most incredible thoughts to ever be penned. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! May Peace and Blessings be yours in abundance my friend :)

I learned years ago in Psych 101 about Jung, Freud, Steiner... and the other forefathers of modern-day psychology. It's no wonder why our Universities & public schools do not happen to go into depth on any of this. The science of the soul they'd call "fringe science..." I suppose to discredit it. As with Jung (as well as Steiner) they barely scratched the surface of their most important words and works, such as what you have brought to the table here. So, this is the 4th time I'm listening to part 2, there's just a lot to really INNERSTAND about his work. You have done an amazing job at breaking things down and giving some great insight into (IMHO) his most important Research. I am looking fwd to listening to this entire series. This stuff is so important for personal growth... it's ashame that more people don't study Jung's work. Thank you so much! You are very knowledgeable. I'm ready to do some REAL work on myself & I believe this must be part of my crazy journey! Love & Light!

There is so much need of Jung’s lectures made like this. Lots of our fellows westerners try to address these issues by using yogic or eastern philosophies which are unsuitabile to us as we have 5.000 years of history and culture separated and different. Jung has already made this rejoining of eastern and western cultures for us, and it has taken his lifetime. You are doing an exceptional work in making it available and suitable to everyone. I like the way you ended up each lecture with the most significant sentence, so that one can meditate upon it afterwards. I’ll go through all you lectures in due course.

I believe there is a sacredness to the body that is insisted upon within Christianity, so that the reflection of the mind and soul to reach individuation may not be the only path forward. The physical acts of training could be used as a physical form of meditation that focuses on the present moment through one's body as well. but thats just my opinion, love to hear your thoughts

To be very clear, I love this series. I have found it helpful and enlightening. I offer the following in that context and, I believe, in the spirit of joy and gratitude. The primary characteristic that I love and find challenging about this series is that despite the seeming intent to speak from a place of "Humbleness", the presenter doesn't come across as particularly humble. They are obviously very insightful, well-read and intelligent. There is a sense of a real concern for the wellbeing of others and there is obviously something in them that drove them to sink a considerable amount of effort into producing these videos. For that I am grateful. It is also obvious to me that it is part of my makeup to be suspicious of people. Especially when there is an overwhelming demonstration of knowledge in a given field. Especially when they appear to be so young. Especially when their motivations aren't clear to me. Admittedly, this says more about me than it does about them but nonetheless, it's something that's been consistently in the back of my mind, even as I have learned and enjoyed so much of what is on offer here. I hope that this is useful and is taken in the spirit that it intended: Assuming the presenters intent is to be a force for good, perhaps some insight into the history and motivations of the presenter would be a good idea? I don't need proof of bona fides to learn from someone. The content of their work provides plenty. That may not be true for most other people that encounter this. Regardless, thank you for what you have done here.

Thank you so much for these lectures - I am currently working through the Red Book, and just as it seemed to find me as I entered a new stage of re-approaching the soul, so too, these videos have come as I near the end of my (initial) journey with this book. My own personal process is far from complete, and as such, integrating Jung's account of his experiences can feel overwhelming at times. It seems to me that for this first pass with the book, I still need some sense of structured understanding, rather than the full sensory experience, to maintain some sort of psychic protection from it - so again, thank you very much for your elucidating reflections on this strange and beautiful book.

I really appreciate this video from the heart and soul of your search for understanding and meaning in this world that is more chaotic and confusing than ever... Yet with an amazing amount of possibility to share the clear Truth with others. The time is gone for people to be afraid of standing up to the corruption of greed. Jung could have led a great movement in heightened awareness along with other honest truth seekers. Thank you for this video Joseph. I would like to share a poem that I wrote as a result of my own awakening to what the clear Truth is behind the narrative we have been fed for so long because of artificial scarcity, it follows...

Wow!!! Thank you this information and the way you share it is wonderful. So many different genres of metaphysics and spirituality are included. The Hermetic principles yoga sutras Buddhist teachings. Also... Graham Hancock "Supernatural". The anthropological journey of psychedelics and the analogy of deep meditations and "otherworld's" that are encountered when the brain has elevated levels of DMT. I bet Jung had naturally occurring high levels of dot in his physiology ?

I really love this so much! You're doing a excellent job. Thank you so so much for bringing so much clarity to this. I'm really newbie to all this, but recently I was watching a lecture by a Brazilian philosopher called Lucia Helena Galvão, she was talking about the Kybalion, more specifically about Alchemy and she said that there's a difference between transformation and transmutation. Alchemists talk about transmutation instead of transformation because they are seeking not a change in the form, but in the essence. Anyway, just a curiosity :3

  • @HumbleUMedia

    @HumbleUMedia

    2 жыл бұрын

Ah, very interesting. I am familiar with the Kybalion, so yes that is right! Transmute goes to the essence... the Self. The form would be the ego, which is transforming, as its essence, Self, transmutes. 😂 🤯 ♾

"One must know something of god's nature and of metaphysical processes, if one is to understand oneself and thereby achieve gnosis or knowledge of the divine." This is like saying that one must know the unknowable before one can know. The unknowable is that which can never be known. This confirms that Jung was a Gnostic and not just describing psychological processes as Gnostic analogies. However we can still look at his orthogonal system of ego/unconscious as relevant as well as his gnostic formulation as one of a herd consciousness. This herd consciousness as the way of gnosis however is not a revelation but a great danger and where we should part ways with Jung. I think we have to see Jung as delusional. The supreme meaning as outlined in the Aion is a reflection of his historicism and delusional thinking.

I have a brief comment regarding the gender of the soul around 12 minutes. Do you think that this may simply have to do with the word soul being of feminine gender in German? I am preparing to read the book myself, using your videos as preparation. Thank you for doing the amazing work! :)

I’d say so, everyone seems to have their own way to see their own soul. Some see it as a man, others a woman, others a spirit without gender. May have to do with the German also... I’m glad to connect and support your journey! ♥️ Feel free to reach out whenever! 🙏

Interesting summary of Jung’s writings. My only objection is why you decided to explain it during several Chopin’s concerts? Distracting is the least I can say! For some of us with hearing disorders, a real struggle. Expand your audience by just focusing on your message. MHO

@@HumbleUMedia For what it's worth, I enjoy the background music and especially the choice of Chopin. But people are different. My wife is like Oscar...music distracts her. On car trips, I prefer to listen to music. She likes listening to podcasts. So we listen to podcasts. :-) (FYI, while I'm reading these comments, I'm listening to a Constance Demby Mix, a public playlist on Spotify. A deliberate choice.)

Libido is "life force" energy. It is not the Divine Soul but is a stepped down energy or expression of the Soul. The Soul is the Divine Spark located deep inside and behind the heart. So few people in history have realized and actualized their Soul, that's because the ego become separated from the Soul (leaves the Garden of Eden to make its way in the world), In doing so, the ego become wounded and accumulates shadow energy, wounds, and complexes that block the energy of the Soul from flowing through the subtle body. Libido is closest to the instincts and vital energy, The Soul's energy is Divine. One must clear and integrate the shadow to establish a direct contact with the Soul. Methods like active imagination and dream interpretation are important, but are only a beginning. One must purge the shadow energies, which takes decades. Jung's taxonomy of the psyche is inadequate and partial at best. Jung's taxonomy is a product of "the times" and Jung's need to fit within the empirical expectations of his peers and profession. Also important to note that Jung was conditioned by the Christianity of his father and his family. All such conditioning obscures pure perception. Humans are in Reality, multi dimensional spiritual Beings having a temporary human experience. The Hindu Yogic models and taxonomy are much more accurate and closer to the Truth regarding the structure of the psyche.
