Good luck trying to get a cat to eat the food you want him to eat

Couldn't agree more !

I had my cat on a gravity feeder and after 6 years my vet finally said she could probably use a diet. I asked him how. He said fill a bowl in the morning with Iams kibble. When she quits eating, remove the bowl. Repeat for dinner. Then that is the amount to feed her everyday. Nice simple plan if you need to put your cat on a diet.

Doesn't work with multiple cats or cats who vomit when they have empty stomach.

All those foods shown are incorrect. This is just a cat food ad.

My cat got diagnosed with diabetes and she is really skinny I was giving her bowled chicken and she gained a little weight but then the vet told me to stop feed her chicken because it’s high in protein. But now she is really skinny again . I don’t know what to do. Should I go back to bowled chicken?

What do you do if they get ketones? How do you treat them? Are they always a result of too little insulin??

They are the result of high blood sugar.

@@IHeartQuilting2 Not immediately true. The body makes ketones because it needs energy for the brain. If high blood sugar, wouldn't there be tons of energy for the brain? The problem is insulin resistance which does not allow the body to use that sugar. The treatment is fixing the acidic blood with rehydration/electrolytes and overcoming the insulin resistance with more insulin.

Cats get diabetes from ...dry cat food usually. It is loaded with corn and other carbs. Why there is no carb percentage on the bag or can of cat food ?!???

For low carb canned food, Fancy Feast pate and Friskies Pate are a good choice. Cats get diabetes whether there is dry food or not. They are prone to insulin resistance (type 2) but can also get type 1 (produce no insulin).

No, the Vet DID NOT tell us what to feed, and never did you, other than pushing expensive dry crap!
