Never thought I would be able to take care of a sewing machine with an original hand crank. Sews well at 112 years old. 📌I have the option of using my Singer 66 as a hand crank or motor-driven 👉🏽kzread.info/dash/bejne/e46o28d9kpaeldI.html

Dear, thank you very much for this video. I've bought a Singer 28K from 1916 to my wife as a present. It's in good condition and even works as it is, but for sure I'll do a soft restoration, and this video will be extremely useful. Again, thanks for sharing!

I have just learnt that on my machine with the slide plates.. The front black area there is a hole, this hole should have a cotton oil wick in there... this is oiled & this cord will oil the part of the shuttle.. I have just ordered my cords & awaiting to put these in several machines.. I have a 128K hand crank dated 1948, Veritas handcrank dated 1910, Gritzner R treadle & hand crank fitted with a spacer & a singer hand crank, dating 1920-1925, 1885 Wertheim hand crank, Pfaff hand crank dated 1906, Hengstenberg/Anker hand crank dated 1900, Vickers hand crank (still paying this off before I collect).. & many of the singers 99, 99K, either hand crank or powered & knee lever as well & a 201 treadle/knee lever & hand crank..

Wow Voni... What a collection you have! I will google how your other machines look like. Do the hand cranks differ on the different machines?

@@vintagetall6152 ... no, they work the same way, some are attached on the end of the machine & the Wertheim hand crank bracket is attached to the wooden base..

@@vintagetall6152 ... my 1910 Veritas, Hengstenberg/Anker & my Gritzner R, ( the others have the reverse) which the singers don’t have till you get to the 99k... Oddly I started with the Singer machines then went to antique machines. 😂

Yes, just got a 1906. Well not exactly, I just got one to bring back to life. Actually I think my sister thought it may bring me back to life, and it seems to be working, and it's 40 years older than I.

The old Singer Hand Crank attachment is so much better, and fitted so well than the current China copied lightweight flimsy knock-off.

This is the second handcrank restoration I've seen where damage to the finish is on the side of the body nearest the handwheel. I'm assuming it's pin rash but that's usually on the thin section of the body nearer the upper tensioner. I have a 128 but it's electric (no pin rash thankfully :) ). Is there something about using a hand crank that would make someone want to have a pin cushion that far to the right?

Thank you for your interest. However, it is not for sale as I use my vintage sewing machines for my upholstery projects. I hope you find one that fits your needs or use for them.
