I'm impressed that Avalon was willing to go on a hunt. Most her age are more concerned about their " friends " and what their friends think about them & do they have a phone they can stare at for hours on end. Good job Avalon.

Avalon finding that large rack was truly inspiring. What a great find indeed! I can visualize it as part of a beautiful chandelier. So wonderful to see a young girl in participation of this hunt. She will come to appreciate and understand boys' in their layton quest to be what they precieve to be that what girls' want and love about boys'. Your videos are truly inspiring. Keep doing what you know to be what your viewers love to see and hear.

We are finding ourselves moving towards uncertain times. Hunting may be a necessary skill that we all should hope to have. I grew up in a house full of hunters. My dad supplied many meals with his hunting and fishing skills. I am so thankful for that. I wish my husband would have known this we may have been able to feed our four children better through the growing up years. Life was not easy for us back then. What I see here are parents who pass down traditions, skills, crafts and trades. These children will know how to be self sufficient in the times that are coming upon this earth. I see alot of people scrambling to learn homesteading ways while they can. Joas, you and Priscilla have incorporated all these things into your children's lives as just part of everyday living. And you did it all while just simply having fun and enjoying family time. It's been a pleasure watching you raise your family in part. I have so much respect for you both. ❤

We grew up respecting the hunt as a means to provide for our families. Unfortunately, Caribou got over hunted in Labrador, and very strict restrictions were placed to protect the remaining George River Herd. The tundra and wildlife are so similar. However, your mountains are higher. That was very tricky for the oil truck driver. I have been on roads like that in the past. Not fun! I am so glad Avalon got to go for her first hunt. You did awesome, dear. You did get some awesome pics. They could be enlarged and framed and sold if you want. Those hikes can be killers at times, but they do help build your endurance. You didn't get your caribou, but you all got all of those precious memories that are priceless. Blessings to you all.❤

An awesome hunt that you all shared in this video. Walking through tundra is difficult and the miles you all had to cover really affects your ability to harvest the caribou. I must say that I miss Alaska so much and I am glad I recently found your channel with some great videos of your adventures there. I left in 2014 and miss living above the Arctic Circle. Have a blessed weekend and keep making your splendid videos.

Speaking of hunting.. In 1971, my husband was in the USAF, we got stationed at Elmendorf AFB. We both grew up as city kids in the Los Angeles area of California. Well, being we were now in the wilds of Alaska, my husband bought a shotgun, rifle, hand guns, ammunition loading machine, etc. The first hunt was rabbits, with the shotgun. We got 4 rabbits, and cooked them much as one would cook a stewed chicken making a nice gravy. When we were finished eating and I was transferring the gravy to a refrigerator storage container, I had all these little metal balls in the bottom of the pan! That was unexpected!

Your story was beautiful for a perfect hunting trip. My though is that to many people hunt for fun. They have never shot a gun and aren’t able to hit the side of a barn. They think it’s cool to wound the animal- draw blood. So sad. I know many people that tell the story of how they got him, they follow the blood trail but couldn’t find the animal. So sad left to suffer It would be nice if people were serious like you

Hunting for sport is not wrong. Definitely not! If someone uses the meat, and the animal isn’t wasted, that’s all that matters.

Would it be good sportsmanship to use a go pro to locate the caribou. Not a hunter, just curious.

Do you mean a drone? Those are illegal when used for hunting. We have a GoPro but that is basically just a camera.
