I discovered this version in a bootleg in 2006 when I was only 13. I had started getting into Bob's music the year before. In 2006 I saw him live for the very first time. Now I'm at six gigs and still counting. I'm 24 and I've been listening, reading and studying Bob's songs and writings since 2005. Thanks to him I'm a different person. He's my idol and he will always be. The greatest genius of our times!

Awesome. I first got into Bob in high school when I was 15,16 in the mid nineties. My first show was in 1998 (I ended up seeing him 3 times that year) at the Gorge in my home state of WA. I've seen him a total of nine times. I always say Bob is God just because it makes people mad. Street Legal has always been a favorite because it came out in 1978 and that's the year I was born. Favorite two songs are Dirge and Not Dark Yet.

When I was 13 years old I first heard Dylan singing Mr Tambourine man, it started a life long love of his music... I am 67 years old now. and still feel the same listening to his music as I did back then... As a 20 year old my then girlfriend an avid Elvis fan told me that Elvis would always be the king., my reply was If Elvis is the king then Dylan is God...

Actually, they are both god. And don't forget Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard or Gordon Lightfoot or any of the greats whom have left us spinning. How about Neil Young? My own personal belief is that those who get it at an early enough age, in terms of 'life's meaning' and mankind's purpose in it ,well what can you say? His lucky break really began with Guthrie and the black man's blues. To see a man or woman and not see color is a special gift. And didn't Dylan and Guthrie in so many others have that gift? One more I would like to add to the list of greats:Greg Brown!

Those 3 albums- Saved, Shot of Love, Slow Train Coming...are fu*king fantastic. It may have been a confusing time for fans and critics, but it was one of Dylan's most creative periods. The music is spot on and the lyrics came straight from the gut. I was 8 years old when Slow Train came out and I first saw him in concert. As a life long Dylan fan, I find this period in his career fascinating. Thank you for posting!

A new version or one I haven't heard for a while..although he's been in my life everyday for years, and the music ( this song right now) distills my heart for the day. Brings my life and my people I love and have loved into such clear focus, but with new layers. The words bring time and place to me so clearly. Right on Letsif.People are sometimes afraid of what they will never understand.Hell,I have loved Dylan since I first heard him. I play a lot of Dylan guitar and harmonica. I have a song his songs on the street as a street singer since I was 22 years old. One time I was playing in Burlington Vermont and I wasn't making a nickel and I was not making a nickel and there were lots of people. I used to carry Dylan's book of words on the street with me. Desperately trying to make a nickel for a dime, I turned the page and played and play the one about Little Red wagon little red bike I ain't no monkey but I know what I like...and this Canadian fellow comes over and throws $320 in my case;no lie. He appeared to be from the Middle East region, perhaps Iran or Turkey. He had tears in his eyes when he threw the money in my case.

I'm listening to this every day and right before I go to bed. What can you do if you're in love with a song by a guy you're in love with too? My two younger sisters don't know anything about Dylan. They think he's some sixties singer who's not around any more! Can you believe that? Same thing about Leonard Cohen. I feel sorry for people who will Never go to a concert by these ultimate artists. But hey I offered to teach them! Their Loss! Then Bob gets the Nobel for Literature! They just stare at me like oh she wasn't Kidding! No I wasn't! Gotta go listen to this again.................

amazing how Bob can translate the atmosphere of what a song title evokes through his music ... ( I was also thinking of " One more cup of coffee" !)...

+M Tolstoy That's what a lot of the bootleg stuff is. He knows people have heard the songs, and wrote so many it was too much for so many albums. He also gave a lot of songs away that he rarely sings himself.

Dylan never released this song because he felt that the lyrics were too confusing. Had he kept the sound and some of the lyrics from this Outtake version and added a few others from the Demo versions, this would have been his greatest song. I personally love all of them but this version is just incredible!!!

How does this song not make it onto an officially released Bob album? An argument can be made that this might be in his top ten of all time.

I actually like some of the later lyrics from the official version, but I love a lot of the ones here and wish he kept them. The performance and music in this version is so much better too.

What beautiful , heart reaching lyrics to Caribbean Wind !! I can not see it noted who wrote it ; it surely seems like Bob did or if he didnt he puts his own fabulous spin on it as he does every song he writes or version of songs ! A video of wonderment and awe built into the emotional delivery , which is another side of Dylan , which people rarely mention first about Bob !!!!!!!

Bob does multiple versions of a lot of songs, but the version of this on BIOGRAPH is WAY different than this version, even most of the words other than the chorus are different. Personally, I like the BIOGRAPH version better, but both have their merits.
