Very well said Bill, it is very sad people have to be so negative. I myself like seeing other ideas different people have. But I am definitely going to do what I want and never bad mouth another for doing things differently. Enjoying the build so far keep working.

Bill & Deb, like I have said previously, I plan on doing a cargo trailer conversion sometime in the near future. I have been following your channel and learning from your videos, as well as other people's channels. When I build, I will incorporate as many ideas as I can, so it works best for MY needs and budget. I am thankful for everything that I am seeing and learning, and I sincerely appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience. Thank you! As for the negative comments, I do my best to ignore them on a daily basis. In my honest opinion, I feel those that are the most critical of others are the ones that dwell in their own self inflicted misery. Thanks again for all you are doing and sharing. I appreciate you more than you would ever know. Keep up the great work, and sharing the joys of life!! 👏👏👏👏👏

I have watched every video you have done with the tours of different people's cargo conversions and have picked up so many ideas while I'm enjoying watching you build your new trailer I'm chomping at the bit to build mine. Fingers crossed i will be picking it up mid June and starting the cargo conversion journey take care and looking forward to the next video!!!

Hey y'all, you two have a great thing going here. I have been watching your build along with many others that you interview and their builds. I am working on my first conversion now, due to hurricane Ian. I was sent to work the hardest hit areas of the hurricane the day after it hit, and stayed there for approximately 4 months. I never had a plan to do a conversion until there were no hotels and nowhere to stay. So I brought my cargo trailer down and bought the essentials for a more comfortable stay. Now I am working on making it in to more then that and slowly improving with electrical, insulation, upgrades, and much more. It has turned into a hobby now sort of for me and I am enjoying it. My wife is also excited about it too. Thank you for sharing all that you do for the community to get ideas, and information on different materials and products.

I think you have a grasp on what you’re doing Bill, shoot I didn’t insulate mine and I have no issue heating or cooling but I also only camp a few weeks a year. But with that said I’ve been in 25deg and 110deg with no issue so what you have going on will be 100 times better than nothing (not that you needed my reassurance) and I would tell you not to worry about what the keyboard commandos say but I fall into giving them credence sometimes they long for but don’t deserve!! I enjoy watching you and your lovely wife and do hope some day to meet up and share a fire!!

Isn't that the beauty of having your home on wheels you don't have to stay where the weather isn't 70 degrees, you pick up and move to a place that is beautiful. I'm really enjoying watching the build, I have a travel trailer now and will start out using it when I retire (3 years) just until I figure out what style of traveler I am, they say use what you have until you figure it out, I'm leaving all options open, bus (school and shuttle) class C, cargo trailer etc. I'll be a solo female traveler so I will need to decide also what is a safe option for me.

Nice video. Something to think about before you frame your soffit for the mini split air handler. The air handler sits on a bracket. When installing it you put the unit above the bracket and slide it down onto the bracket. I Made this mistake on my build and did not leave enough room to make this maneuver. Had to rebuild that area on mine. I also secured it with a simple 3/4"x1"x16" piece of wood screwed over the unit so it can not be lifted off. I was afraid I was going to hit a bump and the unit would fly off. She is rock solid now. I also used pool noodles along the entire length of the AC lines in addition to the pipe insulation to help avoid any abrasion from the traveling so I had to build a big enough chase to accommodate this. I'm sure you have thought of this! I mention this just in case and may save you a headache or 2.......... Keep up the good work.

I do need to talk to you about how you brought the lines through the front wall. If memory serves, you used a potty flange for the pass through. I'm curious how you sealed around the tube when you brought them through, or, if you even needed too. We'll be installing the mini split down near Tallahassee around the first or 2nd week in June. Wouldn't it be great if you could take a little vacation down there.😄

First o f all I really like your channel content. Here is a cartoon I think you will like that I have recently seen and it goes like this.. After a traffic accident a man is cut from his car and as he’s loaded into the ambulance by the rescue squad he looks up and says. Are you taking me to the local hospital? The ENT answers no sir you’re way too sick for that, we’re taking you to the comment section. I say do it your way and forget or turn off the comments. I was a builder and also owned a trucking company. Everything I see you doing has my blessing from the builder part of me. Think about it, the only thing that really matters is door height so you don’t hit your head, everything else you will get use to. Take care, god bless.

Well I think you guys are doing a terrific job of it. I've watched quite a few videos on RV and diy over the past few years and thought about the cargo trailer route so I could make it comfortable and cost effective the way I want,so I'm just watching along and wish I could get my husband to get interested. We would be part time so I was thinking maybe we could get by with an 8 x 16. Yours is 8.5 x 20 right? Hope all this learning from you sticks with me, or Ill just have to go back and review your other. videos. Plus all the great interviews you've done have helped and showed so many great ideas. Thanks for sharing it all otherwise many of us wouldn't have a clue! Haha speaking for myself of course.

Still doing the Need, Want, Dream list of items and functions the trailer will have. I too follow a lot of the different vehicle builds. Lots of good ideas (and some bad) out there. Could you be kind enough to post links to some of the people you and Deb follow?

Love your videos. Would you consider adding insulation underneath the floor?

  • @billanddeb

    @billanddeb

    2 жыл бұрын

Probably not. Our previous trailer had zero insulation on the floor and only when temps got down into the mid 20s did we notice a cold floor. The 3/4 inch foam board insulation we added on top along with the added layer of 3/8 plywood on this trailer should be adequate for our needs since we plan on being in warmer climates during the winter.

Don't worry about the crazies. Did you give angry consideration to those apart foam 2 party for installations? Not enough R value or do you think it would not Handel the movement? Just wondering? I am doing mine like yours but had that thought?

In .y trailer I didn't insulated the floor and I go from Wisconsin in September/October to Arizona for the winter and then back to Wisconsin in April an just use a rug if it to cold (in the 20 and 30's at night) I have and Waves and a small electric heater when I'm using shore power. Build it for you to h$ll with them.

Bill and Deb I enjoy your videos. I have just started converting an enclosed trailer to a work and play camper toy hauler. I have a question. What did you use to fill the gap between the outside wall and the floor. I don't want to have my wall insulation panels to be below my floor.

First we used lexel elastomer sealer to caulk areas where we see daylight (which wasn't many). Then we filled the "groove" with spray foam. Then the foam board came down on top of that.

If you haven't got wire yet you might want to get some. Went to get 12/2 wire today and they were completely out the other day they had a bunch. And they said there's a wire shortage now. I did find some finally but the shelf was almost bare only found 100 feet so I'm glad I got some last week also when they had it. Materials are so expensive right now it nuts and it just going to get worse. Hope you find everything you looking for.
