If you added one more battery, you could probably run a small 5000 btu A/C unit on DC power over night without even running a generator. Then start the generator in the morning to charge the batteries and power the A/C during the day. Great setup you have.

You did very good. Remember, don't spend too much money on what others glamorize. A simple system does the job. 200 amps is more than enough and have some portable power in case of emergency. Some youtubers enjoy inflating the system to very expensive and unnecessary components to favor their sponsors. Many are not into that, and just want honest information to setup a simple system that fits their budgets. You will learn in time. But you seem honest and have learned on your own.

Series will double your voltage, parallel wiring keeps volts the same but increases amp hours. Some use two 6 volt batteries and connect in series to give 12 volts. Connecting two 12 volt batteries in series will give you 24 volts..

Yep, guessing he just got them mixed up. Looks like they are wired in parallel.

Hey Chris, I would change the AC power wire coming in to a 10 gauge wire due to its ampacity.

Decent video. I guess you already read the other comments: You put two 12 volt batteries in parallel to keep them 12’volt, with twice the amperage or ah. Series would make them 24 volts together. I would suggest electrical connectors on your outlet and disconnect box, so the box’s will not cut into the Romex wire sheath. Also stranded wire is better for rv’s. Solid wire is more likely to break with movement. It is easy to find it, already in greenfield (flex) conduit. I’ll look forward to seeing the rest of the build. The cabinets look great so far.

Hi there I really liked your videos, very well explained. I have a couple of questions, I am really new at this so please bare with me. I purchased a 7x14 cargo trailer and it currently has solar, however, the previous owner only put 1 outlet inside. It has 1 12v battery, and 1500W Cen-Tech power inverter with a 3,000-watt surge. I would like to add 4 more outlets in the trailer and a couple of more LED lights. I am going to install an AC unit but that's it. No fridge, no TV, just 4 more outlets for Charging laptops, or cell phone, shaver, and possible shower. I do want to get another battery so i will have Parallel connections. The solar panel is so small its like a size of a picture frame mounted on top of the box in front of the trailer. Now I can plug the trailer to the RV outlet since it has a plugin from the outside. My question is do I need a bigger solar panel? Is my inverter big enough? I am only using the trailer 2 times per month. Thank you for your advice.

Your shunt will only measure the power to the DC loads and not the inverter/charger , so you won't get an accurate read on your batteries' level of charge. It should be the only thing connected to your battery ground, with every other ground connected to the other side of the shunt.

Thanks for your video! I'm setting up the electrical in my cargo trailer based on your video! I have just about everything u do but that Converter/Charger with Charge Wizard component and some kind of fuse circuit breaker. Although, I have a Renogy DC-DC dual charger w/MPPT to charge my batteries (fr both my solar panels and tow vehicle's battery). QUESTION(S): Do I need that charge wizard or will my Renogy charger suffice? Also, do I need the 30amp 2 space 2 circuit lug center? Or can i use a Blue Sea Systems ST Blade ATO/ATC Fuse Block (either/or)? I'd REALLY APPRECIATE ANY RESONDENTS since I am quite the novice and cannot seem to find anyone for hire to help me! Thank you, ! Art-n-Kiko, Seattle, WA.

Honestly I am not an electrician I used the charge wizard due to reviews I had found on it. If you have a way to recharge your batteries without the charge wizard you should go that route. I don’t currently have solar installed. 30 amp breaker is strictly for my shore power usage. One breaker goes to the charge wizard for recharge the other breaker goes to AC power outlets installed around the trailer. I did this so I had the option of cutting off power to both/either if needed. Once again I am not an electrician this is just how I did it.

How long can you run an air conditioning unit with this setup? I thought you would need a generator but, I'm intrigued with using batteries and an inverter.

Carl it’s very dependent on the air conditioner, it’s a very small space so I use a small power draw air conditioner. Even with that I can get about 8 hours of continuous run time. I installed the batteries more for power a refrigerator and fans. The larger the AC unit the larger your batteries/inverter would need to be.

I hope your family isn't staying in that trailer with you if those are lead acid batteries, I mean there are thousands of videos showing how dangerous they are in a enclosed situations unless stored on the outside, you can't go wrong with lithium batteries stored inside🤔
