Tracy, when I have goofs on topstitching, particularly near zippers, I just do a double layer of topstitching (very slowly) especially when a contrasting thread is in the machine. It looks deliberate yet not out of place because it’s by a zipper.

Ok this bag was just too cute and practical to pass up Miss Tracy! So many new techniques to learn on this one but I’m excited to try. Yes, it’s a lot to construct for a rookie like me…but with your pattern and tutorial, I have to go for it. It’s so so cute. I’ll have your tutorial on speed dial pause/ sew / play / rewind / play ect. 😂 so much work you put into this one. Thanks as always. Off I go to gather materials. 🤔🥰😎

My first bag I had to alter as I bought a Chenille fabric and put the recommended backing,it was too stiff so I gave it sides and I do like it. My 2nd bag worked fine without the backing, just hard turning it right side out. The Chenille fabric looks like denim, got it on clearance, denim was $20.99 a yard and I planned to make a few for friends. It’s a fun project. Don’t know how to send a photo.

Thank you so much for the fabulous tips and in depth instruction. I did want to mention though - with my personal experience - that while Frixion pens are fabulous for using on the wrong side of material, if used on the right side it will continue to haunt you every time the bag gets cold. Yes, it disappears with heat, but just try putting it in the freezer - it comes right back! So, if you live in a hot climate year round it will probably be fine. But if you have cold winters you'll find all your markings coming back as soon as the bag gets hit with that cold weather. One time i had a driver who was using one of these pens for his notes on his paperwork. He put the notebook in the window of his truck in summer and came back to blank pages. He was horrified! All his work was gone. But i had him put the notebook in the freezer and it all came back, good as new. So be cautious of using those pens on the front side of your pattern.

This was a great teaching video on how to make many different kinds of pockets. It turned out beautiful and very professional looking. I know how much work goes into designing a bag that meets all your specific needs. Plus you made it at least 3 times and made a video! Kudos to you on a job well done! You must be exhausted! 😂 But now you have your bag and a pattern for others! Keep up the good work! 🌷

Tracy, a few Qs: •Is it really 15” tall? Bc it says the cargo pocket measures 6.5” tall, and it looks like the bag is maybe only 3-4” taller than that? •How much fabric is required for this? •How long did it take you to make it? I’m guessing an hour to cut the pieces, 1/2 hour to print and cut the patterns; 1/2 hour to fuse the interfacings on; and did it actually take two hours to sew together? Or was it longer? My friend is leaving on a trip in just a cpl days and I’m wondering if I have the right fabrics and enough time to make this bf she leaves. Thx!

Thank you Tracy. I now know the size. But what abt the fabric requirements? And do you think my time estimate is on par? 4 hours-ish? Or a lot more? I know you were filming too, so that complicates the estimate. 😬

  • @TheSewingChannel

@@susanmei9980 The fabric requirements are on the written pattern. The time frame will vary on sewing skill level. I was drafting, designing and filming all at the same time LOL 🤣 But if all pattern pcs are cut with interfacing and ready to go- I could sew this in less than 2 hours.....(I'm guessing though because I haven't had a chance to sew one straight through.) I hope that helps✅
