A funny thought occurred to me before writing my comment and it was this; In music stores that sell saxophones there should be a sign that clearly states ‘No playing Careless Whisper’,like the sign in Wayne’s World ‘No playing Stairway (to Heaven) as it pertained to guitar players trying out instruments. Having said that, I can honestly say that this is one of the best and most unique approaches to playing this song on alto. Absolutely brilliant to set this tune to salsa rhythms and to make the clave beats such a driving force to this famous melody which is more or less minor in key throughout. Afro/Cuban, Salsa (etc.),music in modern jazz is well known. It’s always a pleasure to hear it being played in such a joyfully, inventive way. Bravo, Felicity Saxophonist!! 🙏👍😍🥁🎷🎺
