Career ni Kobe Paras, Palpak nga ba? | What happened?

Kobe Paras is definitely one of the best prospect for our national team. He got the height, the speed, the athletecism, etc. But what really happened to his college career? is Kobe Paras' a failure? Hmmm.
Thanks for watching, Parekoy!

When I learn that Kobe was here in the US to study and play i was very excited and followed the boy. He has a great outing with the Creighton Blue Jays but I was surpised when he left after a year and went to CSUN. I started doubting his attitude but not his talent. He wants too much attention in college basketball. I even heard him quote "Believe in the process..." but it was him who does not believe the process, he was too impatient. I do agree with you that he made bad decisions. He needs to correct his attitude first in order to make it big.

Disappointment after disappointments in American collegiate scene has left Kobe traumatized. He's young and currently frustrated and licking his wounds. Expectations in the USA didn't materialize so like any other youth his age Kobe now is gauging his options on what to do next. Going back home is to rethink and heal like a spiritual retreat to be with family and familiar faces to console, gain strength and seek advise. One thing I observed is that lately he's been homing up his outside shooting as he's already very athletic and to make him a more complete player. People say he's looking bored and nonchalant it he way he is playing which to me us actually true and who wouldn't? He's n a transition stage and groping to fnd answers on his next plans. He's still a kid and we're tending to forget that factor due to his rapid rise and sudden hiatus. I believe nice he finds the answers in his current turmoils in life that he'll be coming a big comeback just as what this video is implying. He has the skills no doubt except that he needs to fight his inner demons first to finally shine in his full potentials. Parekoy got his assessment right on target and it's just a matter of time for Kobe to make a successful comeback locally and internationally. He's still very young so no need to rush things.

Well honestly that's not how you should handle disappointments in sports. Kobe Bryant was the first in last out in gym. win or lose. he strived to get better every day. There's too much publicity for K. Paras already when he's just one average kid in the world of basketball. I'm not saying being average doesn't mean you won't make it. It just means, you should have heart of stone, work harder and train harder. That's not the case it seems. In the sports world time to "lick your wounds" "back to the drawing board" should not last more than a few weeks. Everyday there are a lot of kids who train to become better.

Kobe has all the tools to succeed and be better than his dad in the local basketball scene. Alisin nya yung star complex at hero ball mindset. Improve his decision making inside the court.

Failure on what? It is too early to say at the moment that he failed to reach his NBA dream. He is taking a different path. Whether he ends up eventually in the NBA or not, we don’t know yet. He didn’t even go for the 2018 draft. Even if he did and did not get selected, there are still a lot of nba players today who went undrafted. He also didn’t fail as a player. He has improved a lot. I agree though that he should’ve stayed with Creighton because NCAA Division 1 level coaching shouldn’t be underestimated. But who are we to judge his decision. We can only evaluate his natural talent and heart, and he has both. I hope he ends up with a team with a coach that who’s going to help him. He didn’t need to go to UP in my opinion. He needs to continue his growth and go for NBA / D-League. tryouts. That’s a legitimate path. To the people here who said he is a failure, you don’t know basketball so STFU.

One thing everyone has to remember is that our (Filipinos’) definition of “athletic” is different here in the US. Players here in the US, lalo na yung mga African-Americans are very athletic in the sense of speed and strength. One reason he was not used that much in Creighton was that he wasn’t fast enough. That was also part of the reason why Steph was no drafted because they perceived him as not athletic enough. He eventually proved them wrong by his shooting skills but was not easy for Curry. Just a thought.

Some players are holding out on applying for the Draft in the PBA by playing in amateur leagues or joining the Philippines basketball programs like Gilas Pilipinas or Alab Pilipinas. Of course this is on the prodding of the two most biggest team owners in the PBA. Which side the players follow depends on the biggest promise these two conglomerates can offer. And if the time comes when any of the multiple teams owned by these two conglomerates get the first pick , that is when these players sign up for the draft.

If we think about it, is this the problem of Kobe or our problem? First, about the hype. Many would say "lumaki ulo nya", the thing is we hyped and we assumed that the guy would be "very" successful. Is it his problem? I dont think so.. We filipinos are assuming, we hyped Kobe yet at the same time are very critical if the young dude doesnt do enough. When is enough gonna be enough for us pinoys? When will our all out support be enough also? The Kobe opinions would imply how and what are we as Pinoys. We are a bunch of assuming, dickriding but at the same time "hugas kamay" individuals.

Agree with bro! It was very untimely for Kobe to decide to go to US without realizing that there is a better future to Play in the Philippines like in national theme but He abandoned the Philippines and belittled the future he may have there. When the national theme needs a great player, he never offered himself to play in Gilas but rather keep himself playing in US without a clear future and direction. Now the PBA doesn't even offered him any slot to play for the reason that the PBA feels that Kobe is just coming home to seek for the opportunity after his big failure in US where during the times the PBA or National basketball Theme needs him has been ignored by Kobe. The PBA doesn't need Kobe anymore. It's too late for Kobe.

Mas prefer nila ang 4 to 5 star that time.

When Kobe Paras released his "I'm going pro" video. March 2018. Then later on Lavar Ball announced na may open try-outs sa ibat ibang city sa April. Then nangyari nga 1st week of April 2018 sobrang daming athletes na nag tryout "GetPaid" pa ang motto non. Then I read in Reddit BBB and ballislife may nakakita nga kay Paras na nag tryout sa Los Angeles Ballers. Pero after that wala ng balita. Then bigla namang umikot ang hangin.

That is awe full lot of expectations for it to consider as failure. When was the last time a Filipino that spent his early basketball career here in the PH became a recruited talent in DIV 1 NCAA? He was just unlucky is all I can say that started in the UCLA. That school is really strict academically and maybe his curriculum he got in high school did not match with the university. Creighton is also known not to play young guys.

  • @janravenbarreto1051

Watched a video here before about Japan's Rui Hachimura and Watanabe. But on his 3rd Season with Gonzaga, isa na siya sa trusted players ng system and possible lottery pick pa. Considering Rui was labeled the "unicorn" and "the future" sa Japan during high school sa pagkakasama niya sa Senior Team nung 2015 FIBA. Bottomline: Kahit na may hype from fellow Filipinos. Kobe should have stayed with Creighton or Northridge and fight for his minutes and improved para madala niya yung improvement na yun pagpapaganda at pagdala ng maturity sa much younger squad ng RP Team. Si Rui and Kobe ay parehas ang frame, almost similar ng playing style as an athletic PF. But the difference between them was Rui's values (Japan) and work ethic.

Hype is just hype to who believes in them, their athletism generated the hype for this young guns. Hype is there to who believes in SOTTO and sotto has something too for Filipinos to be hype too. For someone who has the extra factor there will always be the hype, pinoys who are more than the usual or above his pears is hype.

I think he could've been the one to get into NBA...we don't know what's going on behind the scenes....nakikita lang natin naglalaro sya, nagcocompete. He has potential but inorder to excel in the sport...it's 150% of your time. No time to go out there and get media exposure. Media exposure will come to you when you're good. Lebron, Kobe, KD...nakilala sila sa basketball circle through word of mouth...all the players do is keep playing ball and hone their skills. Sana nag lay-low lang sya and kept playing. I'm guessing wala ring nagmanage ng career nya as in a professional sports agent? I could be wrong but this kid really had what it takes.

Kaya yan kobe tiwala lng

At the age of 20 di na lang siya ang dominant player from pinas.

Very strong line up. Puwede isali sa NBA representing Guam or Hawaii base.

@@HandM80 ibig sabihin nya bro di pa masyadong develop skills nya sa mga strategy kasi nga mas focus sya sa dunks although magaling nga sya pero in basketball you have to be smart too, and that is what he need to work with

meron syang physical qualities n talagang mahalaga sa isang basketball player, atlethicism and height. I think he can surpass his dad but it will depend on his determination and will to do it. Nobody becomes legend just because they have the physical attributes.
