Thanks for sharing this, I have received some of the free items and I wonder what on earth I'm going to do with them, because they just aren't my style. This is a great example of changing things up to where they don't even look like the original theme, yet still make a great card. Especially for papers that might be geared more toward scrapbooking than cards. I like how you explain your thought process throughout, and keep the pace of the video moving along. These videos are very helpful!

Thanks! I will probably make the other page from the pad into a slimline because I like that best, but I thought it was kind of cool how it ended up looking like a pot.

Another thing to keep in mind with a sketch like this is that you don't have to cut the patterned paper page exactly the same on both halves. For instance, using this particular sketch, if you found that the bottom right quadrant/section of your patterned paper worked well as the 3x4" piece (as you did with the paintbrush paper), while the bottom right also worked well for that (for the second card), just use those 2 diagonally opposite sections for your larger panels & cut the other 2 sections (top left & bottom right) into your 3x1" strips. Of course, that would only work with the sketch if you were breaking the cutting diagram into equal sections. Again with this particular sketch, the 3x1" strips section is essentially just 4 equal strips from one 3x4" panel, which is the same size as your larger panel. In other words, the basic cutting template in this sketch is 4 equal quadrants, with 2 cut additionally into strips. I kind of wonder if this makes any sense. It's so hard to explain without a visual. Anyway, just another way to think outside the box a bit. Thank you for sharing your sketch/template & cards, Jess. I am always amazed that you can cut accurately and talk about something else at the same time. I'm not sure I could cut everything right without concentrating on just that. LOL Anyway, take care, & I hope you have an amazing day! :)

Could you have used the paint brush handle as a focal point and all the plain brown/blue as strip's?
