He must be on drugs or he’s going blind. Not only would that have been Ball 2, but Romero was wild and with the failed suicide squeeze, it’s Out 2 and the bunt can’t be attempted again (a bunt foul with 2 strikes is Strike 3).

Detmar is correct. inconsistent and long 6 to 8 day pitching rotation is very difficult for starting pitchers to adjust. but, he needs to realize his mental is still weak to pitch and he needs to overcome. but, ohtani has no bearings on victory or defeat in any clubs anyway. Angels is weak, and Dodgers is strong with or without ohtani.

@@ThaddeusThompson-uv9jd I'm not sure if you meant it as sarcasm, but if you genuinely didn't know, it is called a squeeze play, where the runners on base takes off trusting that the batter will lay down a hit to the ground, usually a bunt. It is played with less than 2 outs, so that you'd score a run even if the batter gets thrown out at 1B. Very few team do this nowadays because of the hype of the long ball. The squeeze play, if executed properly, guarantees a run at the expense of an out. It is a somewhat less risky approach than to hope for a base hit which may turn into a double play. It is unfortunate that the Angels are terrible with RISP and yet they couldn't make basic bunts when required. Yes it is true that the pitch was so wide of the strike zone that it is unhittable, but a good bunter would still be able to make contact even if it's a ball.
