    Martin! Great videos. I have a Specialized Tarmac frame I intend to paint, and would like to maintain the UCI cert logo on the seat tube as you have in this example. What did you use to protect the logo when removing the original factory paint? After applying the first layer of protective clear coat, what grit sand paper do you use before applying the 2-part final clear coat?

  • @timmannchicken

    @timmannchicken

    I have the same question, but from watching some of his other videos, I think the recommendation is to not keep factory logos, as they may bubble (air) when you try to paint over/around. Some of his other videos, I think he said 800 grit wet sand paper

Near the dropouts of my fork the are little recesses I simply cannot get into with standard sand paper. The parts are bonded aluminium into the carbon legs of the fork...so technically I could use a paint stripper....any other suggestions?

    Martin, you are the best, love your videos and I'm so impressed by your craftsmanship. I got hooked when I found your Canadian themed Trek by accident, and I'm not even Canadian. I have always done some diy spray painting in the past, but I feel like I am gaining so much knowledge while watching your videos. I wanted to ask you, I am about to undertake a Giant myself, and I'm wondering how long I can you leave the decal sticker before I peal it off to do a clear coat? I know if I leave it too long, I'll risk chipping into the actual paint, too short and my paint might not have cured completely and will bleed where it's not supposed to. What is a good guideline or good practices regarding this? Keep up the good work and shöne weekend noch :)
