Caravanning through the Victorian High Country || Australian Off Road Matrix

It is not something you ought do unless you have an intimate knowledge of the tracks and can monitor weather. That is, touring through the Victorian High Country with a caravan.
The Boss and I drag our Australian Off Road Matrix (full height) up hill, down hill, across creeks and back again. But we do this with an experienced Tour operator, Trent Moon of Moon Tours.
On this High Country escape Trent was accompanied by Corey (the mechanic) and his partner Sophie (all round good gal) and the feeder of mobs, Jarred (the chef). If you have a great quality Australian off road caravan or hybrid then you cannot go past a trip with Moon Tours if you want that little bit of comfort off travelling with experience.
That experience I talk about was quite evident when, due to weather (rain) it became necessary to change the planned itinerary to make sure our mob were not caught between flooded creeks. I'd never have taken our Matrix into the High Country without that comfort factor. It'd be too easy to drive down a track with the Matrix and then find out it's one way, can't turn around or worse.
Anyhow, there is a bit of driving. You cannot escape that fact. It is better, we think, if there are 2 of you in the vehicle so at least 1 can take pictures, video and generally try to enjoy the scenery whilst the driver concentrates.
The catering was superb and bountiful. One gripe (maybe 2).
1. The top shelf bar mostly had foreign spirits and cheapo mixers
2. No beer.
It's a hard call, the quality of the spirits and wine was terrific and the mixers were bought, so I was told, because of economy of ensuring the containers did not break.
The Boss and I are big fans of supporting local (and Australian) where it is feasible. I understand the thinking of Moon Tours in the selection, but I think a little bit more effort, just a little bit, would be terrific. Now, that is a teeny weeny gripe. I enjoyed with pleasure what was offered, as did those who chose to equally enjoy.
Was the tour a struggle for the tow? No, I don't think so. There was quite a range of tow vehicles and by and in. large most vans were Quantums or Quantum +. We had the only Matrix. We did not suffer or feel uncomfortable.
No, it was not our 79 that Corey was working on, there was only one other 79 and that belonged to the tour operator.
Would I do it again? I'm busting to do a coast to coast with Moon Tours, too many other things bump up in the way this year and next.
I've still some episodes to pump out for the Summer Tour. I've been tardy, been spending lots and lots of time recovering from the knee replacement. Got the next one late November :(
Hope you enjoy. N.B this cut is about 20 minutes shorter that the video I cut for the tour group.

Just a slight correction for you , on your 2nd last night , you were at Junction Hut on Donnellys creek road , not Donkey creek 😂 , hope you enjoyed our backyard tho.

Had that thought myself plenty of times. The tour operator, Trent Moon, was always a bit ahead of us making sure we had clear passage. But certainly not something I’d do on my own. kennym
