    Useful vid Phil of how to initially set up your gas. We use the tap on the gas bottle to switch ours on and off when we’re are touring. It is important to know where your taps are in the van so you can isolate if necessary 👍

    Hi Phil. Great video. So easy to follow. Last week I purchased a 'safefill' 10kg propane bottle and a set of euro connectors for my motohome. Today I just realised that the B.P. lightgas bottles that I am replacing have a totally different hose. I believe it is called a 'huddersfield' hose fitting. So my question is, will these 'pigtail hoses fit my 'safefill' bottle and if so where can I purchase one ? Hope you can help. Steve.

    Hi Steve. I have just looked on Huddersfield Hoses Website. The short answer is it depends on the thread. Huddersfield Hose do make them to fit the Safefill. Have a look in this link. Thanks Phil 🙂👍 www.huddersfieldgas.co.uk/product-category/gas-hose-hose-kits/

    Helpful video, many thanks. Could i just ask, are the threaded ends to the gas bottle the same whether it's blue butane or red propane? Or is a different pigtail required? Thanks again.

    Hi. Thanks for watching. Good Question it is the same fitting. I would recommend the wheeled pigtail but make sure it has a rubber gasket on the tip. The only difference is Safefill have the lugs to refill the bottle. Very worth while but would recommend the 7.5kg bottle as it is easier to fit in the gas locker. Thanks Phil👍🙂

    @@lostweekendscaravan many thanks for that. I'll investigate that as a friend of mine was saying that he refills his. The caravan I'm about to purchase for a bargain price through a family relation has gas 2x dumpy blue butane bottles in, so I'll probably nearly empty those and see where to go with it. I'm guessing you have to buy the refillable bottles at first?

  • @lostweekendscaravan

    @lostweekendscaravan

    Hi. The safefills are not cheap but most folk are using more gas as the sites are starting to charge for electric on top of the pitch price. You will get your money back in gas price savings. PS check the date on the pigtail when you buy the caravan, they have a 5 year use by date print on them. Thanks Phil. 👍🙂

    Hi Phil, Following this video, we got a pig tail fitting on our new gas bottle. Like a lot of caravaners, however I'm a bit paranoid about the gas running out ... Has your gas bottle got a level indicator and if so, was it easy to fit ? Maybe you've done a video somewhere - I've had a root but can't see anything ?

    Hi Phil, have subscribed to your series and watched a few. The thing for me is that you are concentrating on newer vans than we have [ours we just bought is 20 years old] so this gas system you are showing is completely different to ours, we are on the blue bottle which i think has a different connect up system. Can you not get hold of a 20 year old van and go through again? Thanks

    Hi Brian. What make and model of caravan do you have. I do have a friend who has an older van and has a youtube channel. I could ask hm as getting hold of an older van is not that easy. What I cover does tend to be for newer vans from New to 10 years old. I will speak to Martin about this. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Hi Evelyn. This may sound silly but is there gas in the cylinder? Without knowing your Caravan I don't know the pipe system. The other thing is it can take a while for the gas to flow to your cooker. Failing this you may need it checked out by an Engineer. Thanks Phil🙂👍
