Caravan USB spotlight upgrade

▶ Buy one here : trudg.uk/12vle9fe8a (Cheapest exact model i've found on eBay)
▶ Or here : trudg.uk/switcaa340 (From Leisure shop direct)
I have been sent 4 of the 12v Mensa dimmable USB spotlights, and in this video I show how to upgrade existing spots, and give some tips on upgrading non-spotlights too. Im upgrading 4 existing spotlights in our Bailey caravan, but this can be done in any caravan on the market.
These Mensa spotlights have 2 USB sockets and the Light is dimmable which will be great for us as the existing LED lights are too bright.

    Watch this video when it first came out but could not get them any where then I forgot about it. Until last week i got them off Ebay and fitted them as it was very easy job to do. I have a auto trail motor home and when I bought it there was no USB any where in the motor home. I got a couple off USB in the front when I got some up grades done but forgot about the bedroom,we have an island bed and with these two spotlights ever side no more problems with charging phones anymore. Thank you for the video keep up with the good work.

    Hi Dan. Decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the lights in my Phoenix 640. The only one where I struggled to get to the spade connector was the downlighter under the radio. I got round it by adding new spade connectors onto the cables and all worked fine. However, the one on the near side corner of the bed had 2 cables to one of the spade connectors. When I connected this one up the fuse blew - off to the nearest dealer to buy a supply of 10 amp fuses. Tried again with the cables swapped over and it worked fine. Tried the old one again and it also only worked one way round. All working now and I’m pleased with them.

    Hi both, just curious as I have today installed a couple of these spots with USB ports on my V-line, replacing two of the original spots. Does the base of yours and the usb port end of the relevant cable get warm/hot when charging a device? mine seem to and I'm worried that this might not be normal and that the pre-existing wires maybe aren't big enough to take the extra demand? Thanks

    07:38 - I'd be very wary about saying "you're not going to blow things up". I've seen some very very dodgy units with 12v buck converters that aren't protected/rectified. You really don't want to plug one of those in the wrong way round! OK, in the vast majority of cases "you're not going to blow things up" is sound advice. • @TheTrudgians

    @TheTrudgians

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thats a good point, and very simple to answer. The hole that the cable is squeezed in will not allow a couple of terminals in there, so the only way to fit is to make a small and tidy solder cable joint. this will then fit into the tight void in the shelf. I hope that makes sense, I think i'll follow up with a video showing it in greater detail.
