CARAVAN GETS NEW BATTERIES | GETTING OUR HOME READY FOR WINTER | TRUE KIT DISCOVERY INFLATABLE CAT

Our first video post NZ Lockdown and we are ssssooooooo happy to be back on the road! We start by making our way back down the east coast from Auckland and our first stop is to pick up our NEW BOAT! Jamie spent so many nights researching what will be the best boat for us and settled on this little beauty. The NZ made, True Kit Discovery, inflatable catamaran. He has thrown on the back a 15hp to get us where we want to go!
Take a look to watch the first test drive, we are pretty happy with it!
Jamie also got a few jobs done to get our home on wheels ready for winter, got to be warm and dry!
This video part 1 of our time on the Bay of Plenty coast so be sure to catch our second instalment next week!
See you on the road...…..
Tiff and Jamie

Great video, looks like a few good jobs done. Battery link up idea is great. I've recently done similar to our caravan. Heavy wires and Anderson plug, so I can hook up to the vehicle and charge while driving, or hook up a second large battery that I carry in the vehicle to double the capacity if required. Can even run it so that the caravan and solar system will charge another battery. Boat looks awesome, very nice design and compact storage.

Thanks for watching! So important to have a good power system set up. We have been fine with no generator thanks to our set up but have talked to lots of others that struggle in winter. Its also hard to get good advice on what to do as we know a few people that have been given poor advice from caravan manufacturers re full time living in a caravan. Again, thanks for watching and commenting!

haha, brilliant on so many levels - congratulations to you all :) You'll find the cat inflatable (TrueKit) super stable - I've had a 3.1m rib - it was so so stable - pontoon boats became the boat of choice because of the stability they give. A TrueKit has been on the list of desires for a while now hence, how your video has appeared on my feed :) ;) :) You're lucky to have been able to stay at the Top10 park over the lockdown - we had to move from the Whakatane owned caravan park over that period, the Thornton and Matata ones wouldn't let us stay either - it all worked out well in the end :)

We haven't got the boat out as much as we would have liked this year but slowly heading north now so should be getting some more use, it really is a great boat. We heard about them kicking people out of that spot! It was such a stressful time, glad it all worked out for you. Hope to see you on the road some time, make sure you say gday if you see us!

Hi Ken! So far so good! We are happy with it, it's not showing any wear and tear even with the constant folding and unfolding.

Hi guys love your videos, travels and family fun. I’ve just bought the same boat as you. I notice you have a Suzuki 15 HP. Can I ask if it is a 4 stroke or 2 stroke? In Oz 2 strokes are no longer available and I know the equivalent 4 strokes weigh quite a bit more. Love to hear your thoughts! Thx Gerard

Hi Gerard Cheers! Thanks for the sub and watching. Yes it is a two stroke, suzuki 15hp is the lightest on the market. I would think a 15hp 4 stroke would be to heavy.

Road Life NZ thx so much for the reply. Yep thought it was a 2 stroke. Here in Oz you can’t buy 2 strokes any more! I have a Tohatsu 10 hp 2 stroke so I guess that will still go ok! Happy travels guys

Hi guys and just further to my question and your kind response re engines for the inflatable. I’ve checked the weight of your motor (15 hp 2 stroke) and it’s 41kgs and then the Tohatsu 4 stroke and its only 2 kg more at 43 kgs! The Tohatsu 4 strike is quite a bit lighter than other brands. Can I just impose on you for a once sentence response to how the 15 horses go! Thx again guys! Gerard

Hi Gerard, just replied in your other message but I had a check and ours is 33kg. I wouldn't go any heavier.

Road Life NZ thx again do much. Was talking with Rod Dawson earlier & he said the Tohatsu 2 was quite heavy (based on the 20 hp). Really appreciate your helpful advice!! Gerard

Maybe contact TrueKit and ask them for some advice, they would be your best bet.
