Love these products. I’m just a colorist but these are so fun to play with. They are expensive so I saved $ to buy them. I have everything except for the aquariellos + the Neo 1s. My favorite pencils are the pablos or Luminance. Beautiful. Gorgeous.

I am thrilled with Caran D’Arch art products, and not the least of which because of the conscientious environment treatment in their production. This video doesn’t nearly do the colors justice. Soluble characteristics of the museum aquerelles is unsurpassed. And yes, the colors are incredibly rich. I’ve now got the full line of neocolor II, Luminance, museum acquarelle. I Even a small neocolor I. In this video he talks about how different pigments have different levels of grain, resist and other properties.. but Caran D’Ache reformulates the binder for each pigment to provide consistent solubility and laydown properties .. and they do! I am guessing that is an intense amount of research to accomplish. As a watercolorist, I well understand the inconsistant range of pigment behaviors.

What is the difference between the color pencils lines? Also, how do they compare to Albrecht Durer pencils/products, especially their watercolor pencils?

@@Sun.n.Flowers Hello, as I have all these color pencils too (and some others, I'am addict to Caran d'Ache quality), I can help you. Museum and Luminance are part of the expert line of Caran d'Ache, these line is dedicate for the "most demanding artists and creative professionals ... that will stand the test of time" as they said. Museum pencils are extra-fine watercolor pencil, lightfast. There are incredibly easy to dilute and have very rich colors. The Luminance is a line of "normal" color pencils, non-dilutable, wax-based, lightfast (probably the more lightfast line existing with the derwent lightfast). All have big leads (3,8mm), highly concentrated with pigments. The product lines you are tolking about are also great Caran d'Ache products but a "notch below" those two. Supracolor, like Pablo, have no indication of lightfastness on it, are less creamy, have lower pigment concentration and lower covering power. Basically, if you have no need to be sure about lightfastness, Supracolor and Pablo are perfect, if you need to know about it, you have to switch to Luminance and Museum. Neocolor II are also super fun and I have just got the pastel pencils wooden box for Christmas and wow ! All Caran d'ache products are incredible, I think everyone can find "his" product. I hope this can help you. Forgive me for the grammar and spelling mistakes I probably made but I learned English only a short time and a long time ago !

The Luminance 6901 colored pencils and the water soluble Museum Aquarelle are the best of the top of the line, ever for flow and lightfastness! Caran D'Ache uses a universal color pigment numbering system that is used across the entire line that makes it the best.

I have Neocolor II that are 10 to 15 years old and some that are only a year old and they all melt like butter when you hit them with water and it's lovely. I'm thinking of getting some Pablos and more Supracolor. I'm afraid of getting even one Luminance because I will want them all and my color pencil skills aren't there yet so I'll start with Pablos.

Just get the Luminance and get it over with. You'll just spend more on the way there, there is no way you won't try Luminance one day and afterwards you'll buy them all (or almost all) There's no going back after that one.

I wish you could have talked about the NeoPastel oil pastels. I’m not an artist, just do adult coloring, and have the Pablo’s and the NeoPastels. I only use my Pablo’s in special books with great paper. I absolutely love my Pablo’s! I haven’t used the oil pastels yet, but will eventually for backgrounds. I don’t know if my next Caran D’Ache purchase will be the Luminance or the Supracolors. I have so many sets of pencils, and my FC Polychromos being the best below Pablo’s. I have full set of Prismacolor and I think they are overrated. I seldom use them. Thank you for the demonstration and description of the products.

Caran d'Ache is famous for all-pen fans such as Ecridor, but colored pencils didn't even pay attention to me as a Caran d'Ache fan. How is the writing taste? It’s more like a college lecture than a demo. And the interviewer most likely only had only one camera and he had to be be the camera operator and interviewer too. The mic is picking up the chair noise and all background sounds too. It is impossible to control the background sounds on an at an ‘work interview’ being shot by a single camera operator. Also known as a ‘single man crew,’, or a ‘one women production team.’ I am guessing there was a time restriction on access and so he couldn’t get any B- roll to cut in. I enjoyed this video because the sound didn’t hiss or crack, I can understand everything being said, the framing is well done and invites the viewer in, their are layers to the shot bing the foreground the middle and the background, everything is well lite, the shot is steady, the layout if products on the table are great set design and it is wary for the viewer to follow the topic and the product displayed on the table. As a women with two master’s degrees in this field, and two EMMY nominations with one EMMY win, I am picky about production value. For a one man, one camera, gorilla run and gun production it not bad. And he had a very knowledgeable person speaking on camera about the products. He was clear, explained well, knew his way around all products.
