What a weak sentence for a murderer.

So, anyone who gets really really mad at their spouse can kill them and get a light sentence because of "heat of passion." Maybe people should be held responsible for how far they allow themselves to go no matter how upset they are?

No one is talking about the child who was apparently the reason for the dispute at the root of the murder. Rintala "won" the child by her crime. Why should Rintala ever have been allowed to keep custody? Why did the child have to go through her entire childhood living through the mess that this woman created? This woman is devious, evidently, and the poor child has been stuck with the years of chaos that followed on the murder.

Liberalism is an illness too, that played an impact on all of these trials. The courts were way too lenient in allowing her to keep and likely destroy her daughter with her personality disorder, but at least this judge’s sentence was adequate for a manslaughter charge.

Finally this nightmare has been going on for over 10 years, I only know about it from hearing the local news now and then but what a horrible outcome. If you dont want to be with someone, just leave. WTF no need to kill anyone over something so stupid.

So, if I'm correct she has already served 2 years pre-original trial, then 5 years post-original conviction. That's 7 years. The judge here sentenced her to 12-14 years. So now she has to only serve the balance of 5-7 years making the sum total 12-14? Wow. I understand when a spouse's actions can drive you to madness. Believe me, I know! My ex-hub molested my daughter. My first instinct was to kill him. Thankfully I had a moment of clarity. What good would my kids be with their dad dead and their mom in prison for murdering him? So, I immediately made him leave the house, I turned him in and filed for divorce. If I can contain my shit and refrain from killing my former spouse, anyone can. (Sans any DV self defense situations, obviously.)

Based on evidence given to Jury, they found her guilty of “voluntary manslaughter” due to “crime of passion” therefore it has a lesser sentence so with her time already served, she be out sooner. I guess she SNAPPED and killed her partner! 😒
