I just finished a 24 hour round trip to my parents (12 hours up, 12 back). Downloaded 24 episodes of Car Talk and played it all the way. Greatest car trip ever, time flew by so fast. "Hello, you're on Car Talk....."

I liked the one w the Cadillac lady. Who got a new one every 2 years. Her husband wanted to do this dumb thing where you shift to N at every stop. On an automatic. Then, she's dying to tell her husband she was right about it.
I’m a car guy. I started working on cars as a kid in the ‘70s, helping my dad change oil or plugs, maybe replace points or a steering pump. And every week, he and I would listen to Car Talk. We loved Tom and Ray, we tried to solve the problems along with them. They were hilarious, they were self-deprecating, they were smart. And they knew cars. My dad is gone now. I miss him, and I miss Car Talk. They were the best.
I just can't get enough of the "boat payments" bit - truly two legends
In my headcanon I always envisioned them as Mario and Luigi.
Still listen to their podcast when it’s released every week. One of the funniest radio shows ever, and still cracks me up! RIP Tom! Hope you’re doing well, Ray! Thanks for the laughs!
Only started listening to the show about 2 years ago in my car every Saturday morning. I was saddened to find out they were re-runs and the show has ended couple years ago. Love this show forever and listening to them always puts a smile on my face. RIP CarTalk.

Know this comment is a year old but I just found out Tom, the guy with the contagious laughter, passed away in 2017. Seemed like genuinely good guys, RIP Tom and Car Talk. You can buy each season of the show on compact disc, worth it.
I used to listen to them every Saturday morning when I lived in Massachusetts. I moved to a different state many many years ago and one day I got a call back from the radio show they had accepted my question and I could not believe it. Someone called me back and explained what was going to happen when Thom and Ray called my home phone number. I was so honored to actually have been chosen for them to answer one of my questions.❤❤❤❤❤

I’m 21 and I found them when I was 19 in the farm truck and I found them on the radio I have loved them ever since they are funny and smart. They will always bring joy to me. Love them.
This is the first show I remember on NPR. I was in elementary school. Used to argue about having to listen to the news w/ my dad. But when car talk was on, I was always game. I bet those reruns will be on another 30yrs b/c 3 generations grew up listening to Ray and Frank.
The car talk guys for those that don’t know also fittingly enough appeared in Cars and Cars 3 (They used archive recordings for Tom in the latter film while it appears they were able to get the surviving brother Ray to reprise his role) as Rusty (Tom) and Dusty (Ray) Rust-eze they also made a few appearances as themselves in a few shows like Arthur.
Still listen to the rebroadcasts every wheekend! Miss ya Tom...Love these guys..
Makes me sad every time my son watches cars, I LOVED listening to them every Saturday and Sunday ❤️❤️❤️

These guy kept me alive during a very rough time in my life. Their humor and knowledge was very relaxing. I came upon them in early 2000 passing thru Syracuse on their NPR station and since I had to go a certain way every Sunday night I made sure that I had left where I was coming from at the same time every week so that I could hear their (what I know now) was a replay and then realized that my friends were also listening but we never spoke about it and then when there were my personal issues that were eventually taken care of those guys were still there for me. When Tom passed away it was like one of the family passed and it was very difficult. Their one hour a week made a big difference in this guys life and kept my mind off my loss if only for that hour every Sunday night and for that I am very thankful.
The only reason why I still support NPR. Still can laugh to this day just thinking about hearing Tom laugh.
My mom loved listening to these guys on Car Talk. They were SO funny. Unfortunately, Tom was gone too soon. He was only 77. It's still hard to imagine this life and this world without him, especially during this pandemic.
I still listen to the show in 2018, I know it’s a re-run, but I just love the show. Great guys!
Not entirely sure if there is a radio hall of fame... but they better be in it.

There must be something...
Hearing that intro song just makes me smile instantly. Great memories listening to car talk with my dad as a kid. Now I listen to old episodes all the time.
3 people I miss most on the airwaves: Jon Stewart and Tommy & "Raymie" Magliozzi. Like favorite uncles, the Tappet Brothers, for decades, have managed to fill me full of love, laughter and tears (from laughter). I often listen to the Car Talk podcast, but my heart is still heavy with the passing of Tommy.
God these guys were so good. We really need them in todays time. Car people take themselves too seriously now.
My Dad used to look forward to reading their article in our local newspaper. He had a good laugh when they did an article on the AMC Eagle calling it quite possibly the ugliest car ever made. His Dad had an Eagle and couldn't wait to show him the article. I miss all of them...
The cartalk podcast is available on KZread folks. Reruns of all the shows
Rest in peace, Tom. You will be missed.
When growing up every weekend morning my grandma would be listening in the kitchen. Eating toast, drinking tea and gazing out the window. I do wish I could get to see and hear that just one more time. I still listen each weekend. I wish npr wasn’t doing all the subscription stuff with it but I’m thankful the weekly episodes are still free
"...and then flames started coming out the tailpipe!" "And what alerted you that something was wrong?"
Great to see them, and wonderful to get a little closer to Tom. Ray is the glib one, but I think Tom was more the thinker. I really would have liked to have a beer with him.
I was just lucky to grow up with Car Talk on Saturday mornings. The laughter from Tommy and Ray just made your day better. Thanks!

Using my boomer dad's KZread account to find stuff we listened to on family road trips. And cartalk was it. I remember climbing into the old van, from vestal new York, to coconut Grove Florida. Laughing to them click and clack away. To this day it's played a huge part of my auto mechanic affinity. I enjoy doing some of the work with my dad too. I'm almost 40 now. This was a key piece of my childhood and bonding with mipaw
They could have been a great comedy duo as well. I really miss my weekend listen of their radio show 🙏
I want to know what the joke was that Tom wanted to tell. Love these guys! Wish I had started listening sooner, thank goodness for the podcast.

I loved listening to them
I started listening to Car talk when I was in my late 20s. Early 40s now, sad that we lost one of those most endearing personalities. Best car talk show ever on the radio. Ever.
It makes scenes that one of the most popular radio programs of all time is Car Talk. The most common places people listen to the radio is in a car and in a workshop, a decent amount are auto shops.
Me and my grandpa use to listen to this every Saturday morning
Iam soooo happy that you tube has this on for me to listen too when ever I feel nostalgic.now I can watch click and clack interview and enjoy same good humor and tech talk...my wife and kids just don't get it...who cares...its for dad anyways...a fan of Tom and Ray Magliozzi forever
thank you for this great interview.
There was nothing like going for a road trip on Saturday morning and laughing with these guys for an hour.
Thanks for posting this! I first heard their show in the early 80s. It's cool to see their faces, their voices are unforgettable
Miss ya Tom
This guys were part of my Saturday morning for years, if I missed it I would tune in to our local station re-run on Sunday evening. Great way to start or end a weekend and many times I listened to both broadcasts just to hear it again. Sadly, nothing good lasts forever.
Popped in my head, totally miss them
Love these guys. Reminds you to laugh and enjoy life. It’s something we all need to do.
I love these Bostonian fellas. I love to hear them on the Boston local NPR radio coming from a millennial listener. Such a great loss for the people of Massachusetts.
I STILL (2021) listen to this every week on Irish Radio RTÉ Radio 1 Extra (7 ET am Sat or 3.30 am Wed) . I know it is reruns but it is still the best thing for the psyche and even for car info you can get.
I miss Car Talk. That was the only program on NPR worth listening to.

1995 cars had become too complicated for people to work on. 😄 I remember people saying that in the '90s, but they/we hadn't seen anything yet. On so many levels, there are bigger differences between 1995 and 2024 vehicles than Tom's beloved '63 Dart and anything made in 1995. I've been a DIY'er for decades and 1990s vehicles are incredibly simple to work on. A 2013 model is by choice the most recent of the vehicles in my household fleet. I pamper my cars and keep them going for as long as possible. I agree with Tom, that makes more sense to me than buying new ones, and he was talking about $25k new cars. Imagine what 1995 Tom and Ray would have thought about EVs, hybrids, and $75k+ pickup trucks. Saturday was a regular work day for me in the late '90s and early '00s, and I always tuned into the Tappet Brothers at work on Saturday mornings. It almost made those Saturday work days something to look forward to. Almost.
G*DDAMN I miss these guys! Every Saturday before "A Prairie Home Companion" that was my on my dial. Icons.
"Don't drive like my brother"
Bruce Williams from AM radio days is another one you can’t get enough of.
when I first discovered the show a while back, I heard everything they made and I wanted to find more. Like their latest. Then I discovered that Tom passed away 😢
90's cars are too complicated XD
