It’s awesome how kind and respectful Chad treats Jolene. Dude appreciates his chick. I have so much admiration and respect for relationships like that. Gives the rest of us hope.
The trick I have seen used a lot is to take a piece of nylon rope (or similar...around 1/4" diameter) and tuck it under the rubber seals. That keeps the rubber off the body and you can wrap the edge of the tape over the edge of the rubber. Then you are less likely to get paint on the rubber and it will look cleaner when you are done vs. having the paint right up to the edge of the rubber. But idf the rubber seals aren't still pliable, it's probably not gonna work. lol

auto electrical wire ..pick a thickness to suit each job
I am always amazed at the level of Chads concentration as he works and provides commentary. He can 'Multi-task', yeah. Thank you, take care and peace out!
Hi tuck a small piece of cord underneath the rubbers it will slightly lift the rubber you can tape the rubber right on the edge and also paint gets underneath giving a more professional job. like the show Terry.
Great job both of you. Chad I know you express it all the time how much Jolene means to you, but this episode shows both of your commitment to each other. This is something the world needs more of. Like I’ve said in other comments this has become my favorite channel on KZread and part of it is because of things like this!
Chad and Jolene, You two seem to work extremely well together! I’m happy for both of you! Best wishes! Kevin
I wish I would have had a helper like you got I always had to do them alone being 71 years old I sure would have did things different back then I just love watching you guys pretty cool

Hello chad and Jolene I really enjoy your channel and what you both do on a daily basis been watching now for about 8 months daily chad your a really good teacher thank you!
I always find wearing my glasses promotes a better result in just about everything
Oh geez Jim. don't look! He's at it with the tape again!
Always worth taking your time with prep and masking.

I used to help my dad in his body shop masking up cars Prepping to get painted we used news paper but that was 50 yrs ago great job an how to video once again 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why are you not using "trim tape" to lift window mouldings? Less paint build up on edge of mouldings and can paint under mouldings so mouldings will cover.

Yeah...I noticed primer build up on windscreen rubber edge
Masking like this on rubbers works. I always would try to pull the rubber back on windshield rubber, mask under it, then pull the taped edge back so it's off the paint a bit. I know there's a special tape for it but masking tape can be used.
Awesome next show we painting NICE Cheers🍺🍻🍺🍻 KC Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸🇺🇸😎👍
Chad and Jolene are Cooler Than Dang It!
I think women are under rated, they seem to be able to turn their hand to anything with no fuss. Thanks for great videos.
You two make a great team! Nice work
Chad and Jolene provide great information and entertainment every day!
I usually scrape that paint off the rubber at this point rather that trying to mess with after paint. I can slip something under the rubber to protect primer and use some thinner and razor blade to scrape old paint off.
Queen Jolene Goddess of masking
Getting closer can’t wait to see it painted
BEST AND ONLY REAL REALITY SHOW ONLINE PERIOD,,JOLEENS FAKERS WORK is superb. Widen is a fine apprentice who's learning from the Best ,lucky boy. NO CAR BUILDER IN THE COUNTRY CAN BUILD A CAR FROM SCRATCH USING SCRAP A GRINDER AND A WELDER...CHADS ON ANOTHER LEVEL..FANTASTIC TO WATCH.
Oh boy tomorrow we will see a paint job .
good job for a DIY or maaco type job. A full blown repaint will have the car disassembled, glass out, etc so no tape lines whatsovever.
Enjoy watching you guys. Thanks again!!!
This is an excellent video demonstrating the masking process. However, if you are wanting to paint your Fiero, there's an alternative to masking: all body panels for all Fieros can be detached, primed, painted, clear coated, and put back on the car. Ronald Finger (fingerprints workshop) has a series of videos on doing this.
Hello Chad & Jolene and Aidyn. I hope that you all have a great day today .Thank you for all that you show us on how to fix cars.
I have been watching you guys for a long time now and I just realized that I was not subscribed all this time! 🤦🏼♀️ Sorry guys. I've rectified the situation and I'm now a subscriber! Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching! 😊👍
Let's paint! Can't wait..
This was really informative. Thank you for this painting series.
Thank you again for teaching in such a patient and kind manner while maintaining a no nonsense attitude
Chads good with cars.....but even better at loving Jolene.......
Thanks Chad and Jolene for another great lesson.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos always looking to see whats next. Your a true craftsman and bringing Jolene along for the ride is a win win. Shows what a person with a grand imagination a little time and just regular tools can do in a garage
Just like wrapping Christmas presents
well done Chad and Jolene, another great lesson
Great job on the taping part. Queen Jolene has this part down very well. I can't wait to see the paint go on.
Living the dream with Chad and Jolene.
Very good 👍 job Chad and Jolene the preparation is outstanding
Good for you, and it fits her wrist quite nicely.
It sure is a lot of work the do a simple paint job . Keep up the great work Chad & Jolene . I enjoy your watching videos .
Awesome detailed video. This is my identical body I’ll be doing however a 88gt all white. I’ll be taking notes and watching all of this to help me learn thank you.
Great video as always thank you and Jolene
Enjoy your show every day
Awesome guys! I am an avid fan of your work. You have taught me so much as I do my own build and respect of a 1954 Oval beetle. Thanks for the inspiration.
You two are a team, and that's very refreshing! Ontario fan 🤗
AMAZING AS ALWAYS!
Yes take your time make sure it’s straight and everything is covered correctly
Excellent job, can't wait to see it finished, great present rapping, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thanks for the hard work you two
Great job taping and prep work
Love your way of work. Greeting from Netherlands
😄Thumbs up. Thank you for what you guys do.
we do exactly same in oz..first taping is the perfect edge line we call Guide Masking then a second tape with paper is added over guide tape but not dead accurately ,then FOLD excess Paper inwards [tucked under]then TAPE folds with tape as folds harbour dust .....one thing ,,AFTER paint is done ALWAYS pull off Tape [both guide and fill tape] at a 45 Dergree OVER guide tape AWAY from paint edge ,never over paint edge as it stretches fresh paint and it then pulls paint off body...I LOVE the way Chad and Jolene are prepared to show the correct way.. their voluntary sharing helps everyone.. Power to you Both
Use lift tape around the front and back window rubber. Food for thought! 🙃
With patient teamwork, the car masking is completed in the blink of an eye. Great job guys. 😎👍 Greetings from Switzerland
I can't wait until my next fiero project coming soon
I so wanted one of those when at university. Not very fast, but sure looked good. Masking is boring whether spraying a house or a car.
20th! RAD BAD CHAD! GOOD AFTERNOON CREW! Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA
Awesome, Thanks
Nice to have two people working on it

Having another great day at HILTZ AUTO CO.
Another great video thanks guys

Good job chad and Jolene 👍
great job on the car it's going to look great
Great job Jolene
A good paint job is nothing without a good prep job
Looks good thanks for sharing
Can't wait to see this all shiny apple red!! (Really the only correct colour for a Fiero, IMHO) Cheers!
i always enjoy watching joleen
Jolene and Chad great job on the taping, it is a very tedious and time consuming job, but the out come of the effort is very rewarding. Bill
This is just a suggestion put a small rope or cable underneath the windshield rubber so it's not attached to the body put your paper on then tape the rubber off leave a little pigtail and pull the tape off while the paint is still tacky that way you won't have to worry about pulling anything off the body just the way I do it I love your show
Chad needs a tape sponsor.
I love your videos! I keep checking your website to see if you're ever going to sell one of those long sleeve button ups you wear. The navy one. seems pretty darn rugged and would make a great addition to my garage work clothes!
If I leave the window in I put string under the window rubber so it lifts the allows the paint to flow under the rubber, when you pull the string out the paint is under the rubber
looking good
Looks like your goin to be painting soon...good info on taping for people who haven't done it...thanks for the episode chad and jolene...cya tomorrow
Looking good Chad & Jolene
Never gets old watching this. I've seen you paint many cars
That shirts awesome 😎
Excellent tips on masking, although it's the horrible job before paint, it pays to do it right, leaving no signs it's been resprayed, another great vid from Chad and Jolene
Hey Chad & Jolene keep building for yourself and don’t let the armchair “professionals” get you down. It saddens me to see Jolene make a video trying to figure out why the haters out there have to pick apart your work. I’ve been building cars for 40 years and have finally figured out that I don’t have to please anyone but myself. You’ve got a good thing going there don’t let anybody take it apart.
Nice 👍
Good stuff
nearing the paint stage fantastic thanks chad and jolene for another great video
I see Fina was walking thru and making sure everyone was working and there was no hanky panky going on. Great job Fina. Bill
nice work gang
I feel like chad got more ink on the right arm Maybe one day tell us about the tattoos?
Kool Shirt Chad!!!😎👍
Instead of painting over the rubber, I'd recommend a Q-tip dipped in Acetone. (If they made 80-grit Q-tips, better still.) To keep the acetone off the paint, jam a drywall mud knife into the rubber groove to give yourself a backdrop. I think you'll find it quicker, and it won't come back as the paint ages. Scraping with an X-acto knife also works, but you have to be careful!
Great team work....not much fun taping anything to get ready for paint, but it can make or break a nice over all result. Cheers
I always use trim tape to pull up the edges of the rubber
I hope Jimbo didn’t freak out when you slapped that 2 inch tape on the sunroof!
the barn would make a nice shop
Taping has to be one of my least favourite projects but she has to be done. Always nice to see this A-team working together! Cheers
I always enjoy painting smaller cars to me they’re easier to wet out.
