Car market in East Berlin, 1978
In the 1970s, the usual waiting time for a car in the GDR is 5 to 10 years.
This changed in 1978, when the Soviet Union begins to sell cars on car markets for Western money.
Particularly the Trabant and Wartburg are very popular car models at this time.
This film clip shows scenes from such a car market in East Berlin, where buyers view used cars.
In interviews, buyers and sellers explain their view of the car models, the prices and their motives for buying or selling a car on the market.

Tolle Reportage, danke fürs einstellen! Aus welchen Jahr ist sie? Die Preise werden heute bald wieder erreicht. Gute Wartburg liegen je nach Modell bei 7000 bis 15000 aber nun Euro...
