Js, the subs don’t fire like a cannon lol even the design you claim is a no go will build pressure. still some useful information. coils being in ported section would not affect the pressure it’s capable of building. No difference in having two sealed chambers vs 1 for both drivers. If they are both to same space and tuning then it will be the same output.

Hi, thanks for the video, helps a lot to get started. I have a question about a box. I wanted your opinion on. I have a 1965 impala that I would like to build a ported box and have the ports go through the back package tray. I am hoping this will help with the rattles of it being an old car. I am going to sound deaden the entire car, but I thought maybe a port through the back package tray would help eliminate some rattling. Looking to run a skar 2000 W amp and a skar EVL 15 inch sub.

Ported boxes tend to be more sensitive to precise volume "the extra mmf". Imprecise volume can quickly decrease the lifespan of a sub. Larger boxes lower the frequency, however one below the operating frequency which is easily done in a ported box can be detrimental

Very nice detailed video 👍 I am building a 3 way 4th order bandpass for two 10s 1cft sealed for each subs - 3cft ported so in total of 6cft in the ported box. A website tells me for a 45hz tune in a 6cft box with a square 10.86"by10.86" port It will need to be 17.2" long. Does this sound correct? And does the port of the ported box need to be inside or it can start out flush from the outside? Thanks!

I am trying to build a bandpass but it seems like I’m getting over my head as I want to have a port in the back seat center arm rest any pointers I have 2 10” deafbonce apocalypse rms is 800 max is watts is 1600 dual voice coil 1ohm I’m going to run them to 1 ohm the speakers didn’t come with all the specs as I try to run a enclosure program what hz am I looking for is there anyway you could help

Do 1.0 cf on sealed side and 1.5 on ported side with 60sq inch port 12” deep n it should hit some nasty low notes 🔈🔈🔈

4th orders are less efficient than ported or 6th order boxes, they need more power to achieve the same levels but they do have much better bandwidth and arguably sound better and louder to my ears than flat walls or ported boxes.

You never mentioned how you came up with 1cft sealed and 1.5cft ported. Also you always put the magnets in the ported side with the cones facing in the sealed side. If you mount the subs with the magnets in the sealed side you won’t be able to smell the subs if you over heat them. Bandpass boxes hide distortion so you won’t hear the subs distorting’ so you always put the magnets in the ported side so if they start getting hot you can smell the coils. Also that box needs to be tuned to 45hz or it will be a one note wonder.

Put the magnet on ported side don’t create pressure and smell them as well and more likely to blown them and never enjoy because the smell is gonna be in your head that you blowing them up …good design good power and respectable jamming = loud car for a good amount of time🔈🔈🔈

Why you put in 3/4 wood on program I though you using double wall so put 1.5 on program right. You put 1.5 on paper and you put 3/4 on program.

All this math and designing just to add the thinest wood to the box... If u put sum thick wood the speaker gon sound much better n maybe louder

No... No..... You don't subtract the 1.5 from all of your dimensions. If anything you would add it. Because you start dimensions are what you want the internal of the box to be. And why do you have it inch and a half are you gluing two sheets of 3/4" MDF together for each wall. Seems to be overkill for 2 12s. Unless you have no bracing. But an inch and a half baffle would work just fine with the rest of it being 3/4 in. You also have to add airspace for your port to compensate for port displacement. So essentially you have to start out with your port in building a box because you got to build the box around your port. Because if you build your box and then decide your port it'll change the entire dimensions of your box. If you add the port later without changing the dimensions of your box your airspace changes.

You are doing your calculations the hard way. If you use Millimetres as your unit all you have to do is multiply all 3 dimensions then divide by 1,000,000 (shift the decimal point 6 places to the left) to get the volume in litres. Cubic feet are an inappropriate unit for speaker design as the unit are too coarse, unless you just want to do a sealed box. All the T/S parameters are metric anyway. Also using a spreadsheet will make your life a lot easier.
