Car Abandoned In Driveway With The Door Nearly Ripped Off!

This is my first attempt at filming with my new hat setup. Let me know what you think!
We got a call for a car that was broke down on the side of the highway in Bay City. They moved it into a random driveway off the roadway, and took the keys. When I arrived, I found the car wasn’t broke down, but had hit a guardrail and ripped the side of the car open, and bent the passenger rear control arm.

    You need to look into soft shackles instead of straps through the wheels. I think you'd love them.

    For securement? I’ll stick to my proper D ring straps. I’ve been using soft shackles for years in off-road recovery, which is what they’re made for.

    Glad it wasn’t the first vehicle that was in the driveway. Nice that the car went straight up the bed cause sometimes with the suspension messed up like that they don’t wanna roll straight.

    Definitely. I was expecting to have to set the brakes or block the tires or something.

    I hit a deer 2 months ago and it did 15k in front end, fender and engine damage. I was actually shocked, but relieved insurance didn't total it. I limped it home with radiator fluid pouring out for about 1/2 mile from where I hit the deer. Had it towed to the dealership and due to supply chain issues it took them 7 weeks to do all the repairs.

    Looks like you need new straps to go around them wheels, kind of dangerous using frayed straps to secure someone property onto your wrecker.

    On flat ground i use to leavey truck in neutral and drag the truck under the car until the front tires touch the bed. Then lock it down and drag the car the rest of the way up. In that case that wont work. You will end up.im the back yard

    How do you like that right approach bed. I have heard good amd bad things about them

  • @Towtruck_Dustin

    @Towtruck_Dustin

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s definitely a blessing and a curse. It works great if you’re loading lowered cars, but if you need to snatch block off the end of the bed to do a rollover or something, the end of the bed wants to flip up. Plus you can’t walk the truck like normal. Personally I prefer using a straight steel bed.

    I used their “DIY kit” so I could put it on some hats I had custom made, but it’s awesome. The mount is very stable, and you can install it in almost any position inside the hat, or trim it to fit your head.

    Granted this is armchair towing advice with no experience, but it might be a little safer to approach from the front rather than the back when you're getting back in the truck while on the side of the road, I can only guess what would happen if you got pinched in between someone on their phone and your truck bed!

  • @Towtruck_Dustin

    @Towtruck_Dustin

    It’s definitely probably safer. There are videos around of guy getting hit walking around the front too. Pretty much in the line of fire regardless.

    If they come off the bed, it’s because someone didn’t do their job and secure the load correctly. Won’t have any issues if you secure it down.
