Given some of the comments, I can only assume that those people didn't read the description. This elephant has been destroying houses, and has killed some people. The choice is either to capture it and relocate it, or to kill it. Doing nothing was not an option. Just killing it would be easy. Instead a lot of time and resources were put into capturing it so that it could be moved. Yes, the video isn't pretty, but taking an animal this size alive is never going to be simple.

The elephant could have been easily tranquilized with tranquilizer gun and then relocated. It doesn't look like a wild aggressive elephant and could have got severly injured during such stupid method of catching it by his all 4 legs.

@@sanpatriotki8613 It's being destroying buildings and has already killed people, so it's certainly aggresive enough. Tranquilizing animals is not particularly safe for the animal, and once the elephant is tranquilized, you need to find some way of lifting it. Getting ropes, or straps, underneath something that size is not so simple.

People getting angry on forest departments is absurd . These people who become elephant capturers etc...are the poorest of the poor. No person who has choice would be in these risky jobs. For tourists it's silly and cruel to take rides, tease and heckle animals for selfies etc. bcz they have zillion options and yet they CHOOSE to take safaris etc. There is a big difference!
