Ed Bishop Voiceover on the intro. It was such a great series! I loved Derek Meddings fabulous scale models!

Amazing to watch, even in 2020. So much creativity and futurism. I love the aircraft, high fashion & small details put into these stories. Gerry predicted nano-technology (Capt. Scarlet) even if he wasn't aware of it.

I only managed to catch a few bits of an episode of this series when I was a child. No TV and so I only got a look when visiting someone else with a TV. Something I found interesting when I read the Captain Scarlet stories in paperback books is that the Mysterons are supposed to never lie or attempt a bluff. They always tell the truth. They can make mistakes, though, which is one way some of their plans fail. Another way their plans fail is because they're deliberately waging a "war of nerves" against humankind and part of that plan is to allow humans a small chance of winning each battle. After all, if humans knew there was no chance of them winning, they might stop even attempting to fight and live in a dull acceptance of their fate instead of always being worried and nervous about winning or losing, making a "war of nerves" pointless.

Captain Brown has been taken over by the Mysterious and operates a counterforce to Spectrum called Rectum.

We didn't have color TV 📺 until 1994. Watched this over and over again 30 years ago and I couldn't understand English back then 😂

I was 5 or 6 years old!!! --when this was on TV WAY--BACK in 1972-1978, and further!!--- AMAZING!--- How, you can see your Childhood stuff right here on KZread!!!! Thank you, KZread!!! This was OVER 45 YEARS AGO, FOR ME!!! :)

Maybe the very best episode of the serie. DT19 crashing in the sea scene is epic.

I love every gun fight had to include that crazy whistling ricochet sound! It’s literally everywhere. Especially in westerns! It’s about as common as the Wilhelm scream. 😂

Man, this is such a hoot! I thought I only saw 1 ep of this over and over again 30 years ago (I'll be 41 next week). But I remember that ramming the tires and that fantastic fat jet (or at least I think I did 😂) . About to watch ep 3 can't wait for the memories, real or imagined, to surface again 😀 👍

The best episode - because of all that fabulously weird stratojet action. Having the president's plane hit it anyway despite the valiant SPV battle is a masterstroke.

Gotta love this show. Love how in the second episode the heroes fail, very rare story telling right there.

Always great to see how they could figure out ways around the Thunderbird walk lol, and the detail on the puppets was amazing.

Watched this one back in the day…they need a Question Mark and the Mysterians, 96 Tears, soundtrack. That car explosion at about 6:00, was visually more impressive than many CGI overkill’s I’ve seen…

In 1967 , The United states was at the Peak of its Industrial power. Jet Fighters, Apollo Rockets, Moon Shots. Every part of that 3, Million custom part rocket was made in America. Everyone had a future in America building or selling or just improving our Country in some way. The Future looked Real Bright. This was before the Gas price wars, right in the middle of American Muscle Cars, as close as your Car Dealer. It was an Amazing time, I wish I could go back to 1968 and live there forever. This genuinely frightened me as a kid

I mean they show many elements during the episode that lead us to that conclusion. Also we are talking about a time where episodes could be aired in the wrong order, so there is no point in making it serialised.

@@pershing3346 I agree that it shouldn't criticized for the dream factor. As a very young boy i obviously was not aware of that device. And when it was revealed as such, to this day(!) i vividly remember how relieved i was. I thought it was curtains for Spectrum.

OMG this was one of my favorites with Joe 90 and I am 55 from Argentina, I was talking to my friend William from the USA and he didn't know it, unbelievable!

I was about 5 watching this episode - my favourite episode. I was at a point of beginning discernment were I started to question what I was seeing. I pondered who was filming DT-19 and other events. I started to conclude it was not reality but fiction. The same season I acknowledged a friend was right in that we did not have colour TV, although I thought it was until my friend told me to look at it again. Also I usually missed the opening, scanning the channels, because I thought Captain Scarlet, my friend again attempting to correct me, was part of the Thunderbirds and actively sought that intro. The first episode scared me bad. I was confused in a most unsettling way wondering who the real Captain Scarlet was. I would turn off the TV but turned it on soon afterwards because I had to see what was happening - loved the destruction scene of Spectrum Maximum Security Building and the Sky Park.

The mysterons, sworned enemies of earth, possessing the ability to recreate an exact duplicate of an object or a person, but first they most destroy

So much better watching in color😵‍💫

I´m SHOCKED !!!! . They in this episode of 1967 made what almost exactly will occurd 10 years later at the Rodeos , Canary Islands- Spain where two 747 crashed on ground while one (the KLM 747-200) taking off colided against another 747 crossing the runway ( the Pan Am 747-100) .

Dang, this show was great. Did they make great shows for kids back then and unlocked kids imaginations. No sole in shows today all computer generated

And, for sure there must a Mistress Sharise, who will shoot Captain Scarlet in his good knee (normally indestructible) with a super duper Alien tech gun and at the same time, kill off the whole entire successful franchise. ...Although, actually, I could handle a 'Captain Fuchsia' - that would be pretty entertaining. I have nothing against funny intelligent gays. Even though I would personally prefer an Asian-fetishized sci-fi futuristic cyberpunk bi woman marionette: 'Captain Gigi Chao,' maybe, or 'Captain Pixie Lao.' And then Captain Gigi or Captain Pixie could smash Mistress (real name 'Mystera' Sharise) Sharise to tiny bits with an industrial dildo and drop the smashed bits off in a Pakistan lapis stone quarry.
