It’s beautiful and haunting at the same time. I have always thought that part illustrated the pain Cap has gone through and everything he lost. Evans nailed this role, he was born to play cap. Just like Cavill as Superman.

I'd say Civil War couldn't match this one, this one is the highpoint. IMO the focus being scattered amongst the ensemble cast really messed with it, also, it would have been such a beautiful end if it followed the original story, much more impactful.

  • @hkr0065

Best part about this theme is the overarching sense of sadness throughout it. You can really feel Steve Rogers' pain through this entire theme. The pain from the loss of innocence combined with the rising crescendo leading into a heroic stand against cynicism. I know this is a longshot, but you can almost feel that this song is CA's stand against those people who worship the dark and gritty "more relatable" heroes.

Humphrey Kaye yeah to me batman and bruce wayne aren't as relatable as say; clark kent or peter parker. he's a billionaire who pushes everyone away who wants to help him, able to get into any womans pants within his radius, is a martial arts and escapist master and the worlds "greatist detective" all because he has money. meanwhile cark is the everyday man who's happy with what he has, he doesn't get a lot of attention and lois sometimes patronized him, he stumbles and apologizes a lot, he isn't as noticed because he's the bumbling clumsy guy, he's polite and raised on good ethics by ma and pa kent. etc. peter is the kid who's always down on his luck who just happened to have super powers and the reasons he keeps being spiderman instead of focusing on his regular life; guilt. for failing uncle ben. its done better than bruce's tragedy because when bruce lost his parents, he was just a kid. there was nothing he could do or expect.

What a great score. This was the movie that changed my perception of marvel cinematic universe which I earlier considered as childish and goofy. This movie proved that marvel can come up with mature, serious stories and characters. Watching Captain America: The first Avenger and Avengers 1, I thought of cap as a useless and badly developed character, but the winter soldier overturned my thinking.

I feel like Steve lost his innocence in this film. He was always the straight-and-narrow soldier. Following orders. Doing what was best for the greater good. Learning Hydra had been guiding the world while he was frozen woke Steve up from a certain naivete. The end of song I feel reflects the loss of Steve's otherwise pristine outlook on being that soldier and the implicit trust that comes with being a soldier to becoming disillusioned with SHIELD and why he finally tells Fury it all has to go. The song becomes a lament in that sense. The world Steve knew was gone.

Still the greatest film in the MCU and this is the MCU's best song. It's amazing how Cap's first theme went from the corny rah-rah feel to the new, somber reality of this film. This song beautifully brings out that reality and sadness to Cap's new world. And, who doesn't love a good spy thriller, capped off by the amazing Robert Redford.

I'm a sucker for properly used uncommon time signatures and this song is one of the best examples. I don't know if it's scored in 10/8 or 3/4, 3/4, 4/4 but it's perfect. The 3/4 is hurried, anxious, the 4/4 is an extra breath to reset and then it's back to 3/4. It's written to leave you unsteady but determined, dismayed but hopeful; a perfect superhero theme. Bravo Henry Jackman.

Personally this score explains my life daily as I struggle with my inner demons. The sadness in the beginning, the haphazard nature of my day to day comings and goings while trying to be the best version of me, to try to be OK. But then it builds on the necessity for me to be confident and have courage to dig in no matter what. To commit to whatever decision and accept the outcome. And finally not to regret my past but to be willing to learn from mistakes and hopefully be better the next day. Which is why CA was so relatable because he was written by the Russo's to be uncompromising, determined, decisive and unapologetic almost to a fault. The trait that most of us aspire to have. Courage to take on life on life's terms and to take it on without fear of the unknown or regret from past mistakes.

Even with all the misgivings I have about many MCU films, this one felt so perfect to me. The best writing for the characters with a sensible plot twist and Steve doing his best to be a hero even through what it might cost him. That's part of what I love about this character and many superhero stories; Steve isn't a hero because he's super (though it certainly helps) but because he unapologetically does what's right, no matter what.

I feel like Henry Jackman meant this entire piece to speak volumes on who Steven Grant Rogers really is. To clarify my meaning, I listen to the first 1 and a half minutes as an ode to what we've seen from our favorite Captain before The Winter Soldier, from 1:24 to bout 7:00 as a composition on how he evolves in The Winter Soldier, and the rest as the harbinger of the awesome specimen he becomes at the end of TWS. I don't know if anyone agrees with me on this, but if you don't, listen to the soundtrack one more time after reading this, and you've got to admit it's not an insane theory

The most memorable theme of all the MCU movies! For me Cap2 is the best MCU movie so far, even beating IM1. The main-on-end title sequence by Erin Sarofsky is one of the best work of digital design I have ever seen. Its has become one of my favorites. Can't wait for Civil War Avengers 3 by the Russo's and I hope Henry Jackman will do all of their scores. Alan Silvestri's theme for Cap1 was completely nondescript, just like the movie itself. If anything it reminded me too much of Star Wars.

It for me resonates the sad tragedy that is the shady world of technology and just modern evil that seeps through these new world, intangible threat. At least that makes sense in my head i dont know haha
